Thinking of finding a new vet

My vet or I should say my dogs vet is not the cleanest, newest, most modern or even the nicest one I've been to. How ever, My puppies love going there, and the vet has been practicing for 23 years. If it feels right go with it. if it doesn't, run like the wind. just my $.02

I too have been having Vet Issues for quite some time. I am just not at all happy with the ones I have for lots of reasons.

Number one, my first vet didn't seem to care about me or my cat, let alone Barlow.. So I switched, my new vet is good but he's not very heartfelt when it comes to the babies. Like for instance a few weeks back Barlow had welps come up all over him, so I called the vet and asked could I bring him in. They said "Sure". I then said, "Could I pay my bill on Friday, I just changed jobs" they said "Absolutely not"! I thought this was outrageous since they are my kids caregivers and I do pay 40$ a month to them for Stimey's diabetic food. So I did some research and backtracked on what Barlow and I had been doing the day before and the morning of. Turns out Barlow is allergic to Pollen, so he requires a benadryl before or after play. In 2 days the welps were gone!

I am still unhappy about the way I was treated. I told Renee' what if Barlow had an emergency would they let him bleed to death because I don't have the 42$ office visit. I am changing vets! Maggie will be the first to meet the new vet which according to everyone in town is the best Boxer vet within 200 miles. I know money is money but if I do business with you monthly and I have always been a good customer, I think we can work something out at least for my kid's sake. Or maybe this vet is just a money hungry scoundrel?! Nevertheless, he won't see my babies anymore...

I see it like this, would you want your kid goin to a pediatrician you had absolutly no faith in???
We have three or four vets near the town I live in, I don't feel comfortable with the couple of them that I tried years ago, so for the past twelve years We drive a half hour to and from the vet, he's awesome, and we wouldnt ever give him up. And, you guys know, you get a bad vibe from somethin, listen to that, it means somethin!

I switched vets when I got Bailey and found out she had parvo. I took her to my mom's vet because I didn't trust my own vet who is fairly cheap, but were never too friendly with my other dog who hates the vet (wonder why). I decided then I would switch vets, both my dogs love going there and they have been wonderful. When my mom had to put her dog down the vet sent flowers to our house. How many vets do you know would go out of their way to do that?

Find a new vet, right away. You would never go to a doctor's yourself that had office conditions as such (or at least I hope not!) so you should expect that your pet's doctor also have the same standards.

If you don't feel comfortable with the vet then switch. I have found a vet that Ali loves. Everyone that works is so nice and loving. It makes vet visits such a breeze!
