The story of my life - I must clean my kitchen floor 10 times a day - it drives me nuts, next time I am getting a dark color on my floor our current floor is white.

We have dark colored wood looking linoleum in the kitchen but it still doesn't prevent the paw prints from showing up nicely!! I was thinking the same thing too when I picked it out but it doesn't hide their little foot prints! I always have Heidi come thru the back door and sit on the rug while I clean off her feet. It doesn't keep the floor 100% free of footprints but it does help a little!

We took an old yogurt container (the big one), cut a hole in the lid big enough to fit in a paw with some wiggle room, and keep it by the back door filled 3/4 full with water.

When Buster comes inside on muddy days he gets each paw dunked and sloshed around in the yogurt container then wiped (mostly) dry with a rag. We call it the "paw wash". :D

The whole wiping process is still a pain, but it works a lot better than wetnaps.

We have a indoor/outdoor carpet in the room entering the house
which enters into the dining room from the back yard. I don't
know how Max caught on but he hates having his paws wiped
so now when he comes in we say get the mud off your paws,
get the mud off your paws and do a circular motion with our hands. Max goes around in a circle untill the mud is off and in the
house he goes. It works out just great.

Our back door opens into the beige carpeted living room. We try to wipe 8 feet every time, but sometimes they are either too fast or we are lazy. Maybe new flooring for Christmas!!

What a great idea, training your dog to go in circles until the mud is off.

We use a door that comes straight into the sitting room and through the winter the carpet (blue) gets really dirty.

The kitchen has pale beige ceramic tile, and it gets so messy - I'm always mopping it!

Last week I saw a new product - they are wipes to use instead of giving your dog a bath when it's muddy - well we tried them when we were on holiday last week, and they were great - really absorbent - so this winter I will be leaving a packet of those by the back door and wiping their fett when they come in

i saw that product today at walmart and was going to ask on here if anyone had used them, i will have to get some when i go back thanks

By accident I discovered this method. My daughter's kiddie pool was filled with water from the rain. I discovered that if I made the dogs walk through it before the feet wipe, the mud came off much easier. Now they are used to having to walk through the pool first. I never have to fill it up either. If paws must be wiped, then obvioiusly it has rained and there will be water in the pool.

Has anybody used the booties on their dogs?? Did they get used to them or did they rip them off. Do you use them indoors or out?? My carpet guy told me that the single biggest thing that makes your carpets filthy is the dirt picked up by dogs feet and distributed with the oils.

For the tile, we bought a Floormate. Awesome. Vacuums up the hair and scrubs the floor.

My old house had a Florida room and I kept a big old towel by the door and had Lily walk around on it. It was like a game! I used a small pail of water when it was mud. I'll probably do the same thing after I get my laminate flooring (now I have concrete, since I just took up the old carpet).

This maks me really appreciate living on sand Sometimes it looks like a beach in the kitchen or house, but at least it's easily swept up. We used to live in an area with red soil that stained :eek: When it was damp I used to leave a trail of 'dog towles' on the floor in the hope much of the mud would be picked up before they got to the floor. When we moved and built our home here, we decided to do the floors with brick pavers - it's the best flooring we have ever had
