The walking urination.?.

Ok, I know the name of the thread sounds a little strange but it is exactly that. Duke has decided that he can't wait til we get to the doggie restroom. He decides that he wants to urinate as he walks to it. Down the steps, across the parking lot, and sometimes just outside of the door! It is really start to frustrate me, and I am afraid that the apartment residents are getting upset with it, although they haven't mentioned anything. Has anyone had this happen? I have tried scolding him with a firm "NO" and picking him up and carying him to the restroom quickly, telling him to do potty, and then praising him for doing so. It doesn't seem to be helping much. He even sometimes urinates after I pick him up. I usually aim him away from me Anyway, I don't really know what more to do. Is it because he has to use the restroom that bad? He didn't do this really before he had the parvo incident. I think that it has something to do with the cathider that they used. If this is the case, is it a matter of time or what?

i don't exactly have an answer to your question, but asia does this at times, also (but only outside). she usually does it when she is excited but she has to potty - *example using my mom* we will go outside and if she see's my mom at the end of the walkway, she will be squatting but halfway running to get to my mom. she's goofy like that

I don't have any answers for you. But, i did see a boxer puppy (5 months) doing it the other day. So yours isnt the only one!

Wilson has done that before on the pavement outside the apartment building. We were sooo close to the grass and yet sometimes he'd start peeing anyway! I just kept firmly saying No! and sorta half picked him up to get him to the grass to finish. As soon as he got to the grass and was peeing there I would praise him and give him a treat when he was done. He hasn't done it anymore in a while. I'm hoping it's permanent .

yea, I have been trying that myself. Right now, Duke is still on the blan prescription diet b/c of parvo, so I can't use treats. I just praise him alot. I am hoping that it will soon correct itself. It seems like others are having the same problems? I guess he will grow out of it. I am sure the treats will help also. I can't wait til I can start him back on those.

Maybe he has a urinary tract infection. That sometimes happens when a catheter has been used. You should ask your vet about it.

maybe he just has to go really bad and is associating that hes outside so its ok to pee because hes not inside. My bfs male rotti does that hes a little over a yr old and when we take him out.. he squats to pee (thats right HE squats) and walks while hes peein i guess its cuz hes so excited to be goin somewhere other than the backyard he doesnt feel stopping while peeing is a priority when theres so much to explore

My boy did this all the time when he was a puppy too. I noticed that he did it mostly when ever he was anxious. He would be in the middle of playing or something and just start peeing while he was walking. At first I did what you did and told him no, but eventually I just stoppped because I was just happy that he wasn't doing it inside the house. Now, he's two years old and I haven't seen him do in a long time. He has calmed down a lot, so when it's time to go potty he just politly sits by the door until I let him out. Now the only thing he does is left his leg no matter what, tree or no tree.

Oh gosh, Joe did this several times inside the house. It happened to be in our vacation home where he did not get to go outside as often as he did here. He would just walk and pee all over the carpet, the hardwood floors, the furniture etc. I took him to the vet and nothing was wrong. We have since fenced in the back yard of the vacation home and he gets to go out more often and for longer. Guess what...no more walking and peeing. Therefore, I have concluded that he just was not getting out as often as needed or he was distracted when he was walked and he didn't get to pee enough. Perhaps if you get your dog out more often, this walking and peeing will stop. Good luck.
