I also have a really hard time going there. I do on occasion, but don't spend too much time there. I will cry and cry. Then I keep thinking of all those poor souls all day. Just can't do it. So I limit myself to maybe 3 times a month. I just check out the threads, and say a special prayer that way.

You know I use to feel the same way, reading posts in the Rainbow Bridge forum just made me feel sad, and never posted because I really did not know what to say. My DW would call me to the computer and say did you hear about so and so...

Then our Beau was gone, and I couldn't even visit BW at all. Then I started visiting again, but felt like I just needed to tell everyone that Beau was gone. It took many weeks before I could post it, but for both my DW and I posting about Beau was very good for us. People here understood how we felt, and it helped us recover much faster. I said back then, shame on me for not visiting RB and decided I would visit from now on, we could never thank those enough who helped us get through it. There are some wonderful people here on BW, that truly understand how you are feeling, and many of them, unlike myself, do know what to say. :)

I can't blame anyone for not visiting RB, but someday you will be happy the forum is there, and it will help you get through your grief, you will then be a regular like myself.

Here we are today, about 6 months after Beau went to RB and we still find ourselves missing him dearly. Still painful enough that we have not yet been able to get another Boxer, maybe someday...

I understand your pain but feel like I must say this: Get another Boxer. When my boy Rockne died I didnt feel right until the house had a boxer in it. We swore we wouldnt get another dog for a while so we could travel & boat more. Well the love for these dogs won out .The boats gone and two boxers terrorize us daily.

Sorry for coming off preachy.

It means that you have a big heart! Nothing wrong with that. I think that most people who love or have ever loved an animal have a hard time reading that forum. I try to go on there to give my support, even though I end up a mess after reading the posts. :)

when chloe died two days later i was so depressed i wrote asking for advice if it was too soon to get another boxer and found out it wasnt. i felt guilty looking so quickly but the pain was so unbearable with her not being here, it was always her and i during the day until my husband and son got home. so i have to agree with delong and say get another boxer the pain you feel will slowly fade and having another boxer around put a smile back on your faces of course he or she wont replace beau but it will start all new memories and fun times i know for me getting spanky was the right thing to do and i hope when your ready you find your new love. :)

Ditto to this. I felt much better after we had our second dog. This was part of the healing.

I can't go there either, it is so hard to read about our babies passing. I know it will come one day, that is inevidible. Sometimes I look real quick but the titles of the threads upset me so much I can't read any further.

While the Rainbow Bridge does make my pretty much lose, I find that I could easily spend hours there, sobbing the entire time.

It's terribly difficult to go to that forum and read about all of the broken hearts. That's what happens to us when we loose someone with whom we shared great love. When I read the tributes, the the stories of how these dogs have changed peoples lives, I realize how incredibly blessed I am to live with a boxer. And how blessed I am to have grown up with other dogs, birds, a horse, etc. Each of these animals changed my life in some way and offered their unique love. The RB forum reminds me of all of these cherished friends.

So, like many others, I don't visit the forum frequently. But when I know I'll have time alone I do go and read. I've posted about my own losses and much appreciated the support. I know that I don't have the words to offer to others that will help them through their loss, but I simply hope that knowing others are reading and sharing helps them to get over.

Just-A-Clown, I'm so sorry that your sweet Beau is no longer with you. You and your family will know when it's time to bring another dog into your life. Maybe today, maybe in 5 years. Please don't feel pressured, when you're ready, you'll know it.

hugs to all,
Sandy

I feel the same as Just-A-Clown.
I only joined BW in August this year, a couple months after Quincy went to RB.
When I first got onto this site, I did not know what RB was. So I went into the forum and started reading some of the posts.
I cried for hours, not only for the people who had lost their precious babies, but also for my own loss and all the emotions of losing Quincy.
Then I decided to post my story of Quincy. It was hard to write and I cried the whole time as I was writing it. (I'm crying now for pete's sake).
I went back to the post several times over the next few days and read all the kind words people said to us. I couldn't believe the support we got. It was absolutely incredible how wonderful the people on this site are.
After that I was determined, no matter how much I cried, I would visit RB often and make sure I did the same for others that they did for me.
I know many people cannot do this and that is totally understandable. But it is part of the healing process for me.
People at work know that when I come in with bagged out eyes, I've been on the RB forum.
