My 3 year old daughter ran out of her room in tears and screaming "A spider. A spider. It fweaked me out, Mommy!" Well I asked if it was big or little. "Little", she replied. So off to her closet I go expecting to find a little house spider ... NOT. It was a tarantula :p I removed it and the kids and I went outside (without Goldie who wanted to eat it) as we have a pretty strict catch and release policy in our house on certain creepy crawlies of which the taratula is one. So the itsby bitsy spider that fweaked out my 3 year old wasn't so itsby bitsy after all. Another fun day at the zoo wackicon

OK, How you caught that spider is far beyond my imagination. I would have panicked. I hate spiders but a tarantula??? Glad I don't have to worry about those here in TN. You are one brave woman. You get the courage award for today.

Tarantulas aren't very quick so it's easy to put them in a shoe box or something like that. Their bite is about the same as a bee sting so not really so bad and they only do that if you really provoke them which we try not to do. The funniest thing about today is, I cannot imagine what my daughter considers BIG if she though the tarantula was "little". :) Silly girl!

That is funny. The "little" spider fweaked her out. :) My son is actually getting a tarantula for his birthday this year, that is all he is talking about. They are so neat, and very interesting to watch them grow and molt and eat. I great ongoing science lesson. As long as it is not loose in the house, that is. :)

Oh my gosh-I would have freaked out, except that you have to stay calm for your child's sake. My 3 year old says fw... words, too lol. When she's hot, she tells us that she's fweaty ha-ha too cute! I give your whole family the bravery award for the day!!

And I thought giant cockroaches were scary! :)

Giant cockroaches are the worst!! I grew up in Houston and will never forget doing a summer play at my high school.. In the middle of summer in a nice cool dark theater, I went up in to the seats to get my purse and one buzzed me. I always thought they had birds up there until this, they were that loud..

This thread is giving me the heebee-jeebies.

OMG, I may have passed out.

Oh, those city roaches are not joke either. I was walking in to the bathroom are work (had to go so bad) an as I opened my pants I saw a boxersized roach. Needless to say I bolted with open pants and all. The little SOB followed me out as I ran throught the office screaming. My assistant nearly wet her pants along with half of the editors.
