I had been having major problems training my little five month old Rocky on the leash. He would pull so hard that half the time his front paws were hardly on the ground. I was getting frustrated and decided to try out a harness. I wanted to see if they worked better, plus I was getting worried that Rocky was hurting himself by pulling so hard with his neck.

I had to try it on him in the pet store to make sure it fit so I put it on him and walked him down the aisle to see what would happen.

Let me tell you...it was like the skies opened up and angels were singing! He pulled once and immediately realized that his whole body was being stopped so he couldn't do it. AND HE SAT DOWN RIGHT NEXT TO MY LEFT FOOT!

Needless to say, I bought it right then and there. It is an amazing tranformation. I highly recommend giving this a try if you're having pulling problems.

I left it on him for the whole day so he could get used to it and he was fine within an hour or so.

YAY!! Now I feel like I can actually take Rocky places and not have to look like an idiot fighting with a 5 month old puppy.

...they are the only way to go with leash training in my book.....much less stress on the dog and handler physically and much safer.Yea!

Harness's are a god send aren't they?
Lola pulls like a steam train without one on and it can't be nice on their throats. Zeb has Lola's first harness so he gets used to one although it's still a little big for him ;)

What kind of harnesses do you guys use? Cornelius pulls alot too ... and ends up standing on his hind legs. Kind of embarrassing really. I mean, I do stop, turn and walk the other way but that only works for a little while and then it's right back to pulling. And forget it if he sees another dog - he just HAS to go say hello!! I will definitely be looking into a harness.

The one I bought was from a company called Aspen. I think when Rocky is done growing (he's 50 pounds at 6 months...God help me!) I will buy a more substantial one, but this works for now.

Lola's size is large she's got loads of room to use still but it's fully adjustable and fits her perfect.

Thanks, Ron! My husband and I have had the worst pulling problems with Maggie. She does pretty good at times, but OMG if there is something she wants and she's determined enough there is nothing that stops her to try and get to it. We've discussed the harness but after reading about y'all's experiences with it I'll definitely be pushing for it!! How do you know what size? Do you have to just try it on her or do they go by weight or what?? The closest PetSmart is an hour away and the petstores around here are a joke! Might have to just wait for the weekend and make the hour trek.

Thanks!
