My girl Leyna has a swollen lump in her neck, and you can see the slight swelling when you look at her from the side. The lump is about the size of a large black olive(had no other way to describe it, LOL) Is this a gland or a lymphnode? I already called the vet and have an appointment for 4:00 tommorrow. She will be 7 weeks old tommorow, has no diarreah or vomiting but she drinks alot of water and can't seem to get comfy to sleep, she whines and moves around quite a bit for no reason before going to sleep, as if she is uncomfortable.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Any ideas? Is this something serious or not really a big deal?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well this morning she had a slight fever 102.6, not bad but still slightly elevated. She is still eating and drinking good and plays just fine. No diarreah or vomiting.

I had been doing research on the web and found something called puppy strangles. Has anyone heard of that or had a puppy with that? Also if this turns out to be something serious should I go back to the breeder for the expense? After all I have only had her for 6 days now. Any ideas or good vibes Leyna's way would be appreciated.
I will update after vets appointment.

I'm sorry that I don't have any advice for you, but Ty, Peyton and I are sending lots of good vibes to your baby. Please let us know how things go at the vets.

I was also informed to watch for this when Roscoe was a little younger. It apparently makes their glands swell up and other parts of their body swell up and can eventually suffocate them, or something like that. It can be life threatening, but I think fairly easy to treat if you get them in to the vet in time. If it were me (I am pretty paranoid about my baby) I would insist on going to the vet sooner rather than later.

This is a link to puppy strangles, it can be a very serious problem. I have been looking it up online and it does seem to be something Leyna might have, but I won't know till the appointment at 4:00. That is the only time my vet had available.

I think more people should be aware of this problem and it's effects.

I will update later after I get back from the vets office as to what is going on with Leyna!!

Please keep her in your thoughts!!

I just wanted to check and see how things went at the vet. I'm still sending good vibes to Leyna and my furry crew is sending her lots of sloppy smooches. I was thinking about your baby today and hope things went well for you.

Thanks for the good vibes!!

Well she has a sinus infection that has spread into her lymphnodes. My vet doesn't want to prescribe antibiotics because of how young she is. We are going to wait it out and see how it goes. It should start to go away or at least get better in about a week, if it gets any worse or her fever gets any higher then we will put her on antibiotics.

He pulled some blood panels on her and we will get the results in a few days. He took x-rays of her chest and it is nice and clear, and he took x-rays of her head because she grinds her teeth also but he said that is from the puppy teeth and that her adult teeth will be fine.

He also did a fecal and she is negative, so no worms, yeahhhhh! And while we were there we got her the advantage for fleas and started her on heartworm med. So there isn't anything else I could think of, and my wallet is about 5 pounds lighter, LOL, so that was everything.

So after all the worry and wait it all comes down to she has a cold, LOL, wich is good, now I know that I am just a neurotic paranoid boxer lovin momma, LOL!!
Also she gained 3 lbs!!!!! Is that too much to gain in a week? My vet doesn't think so, he thinks she is doing great and he loves the diet I have her on, but I thought that was a lot of weight to gain in a week!! She now weighs 10 LBS and she is 7 weeks old! She's gonna be a bruiser, LOL!

Thanks everyone again for the good vibes, I'll let ya know how things progress, if it goes away or gets worse, but right now she is doing wonderful, just a slight fever still. But she stays cuddled on my lap so I'll comfort her through it.
