Swifter Wet Jet poisioning

No sure if everyone already knows about this or not, but I just found out so I wanted to post it to make sure everyone else was aware.

I just received an e-mail from my friend telling me how poisionous the swifter wet jets are to any animal that walks on a floor that's been swiftered. Evidently one of the ingredients in the wet jet is arsenic and quite a bit of it. All a dog has to do is walk on the floor and then lick it's paws and it could be enough to poision him. Unfortunately it took my friends dog dying of massive liver failure to find this out. They did a autopsy on him and concluded that he was poisoned, they knew it was nothing outside because they always walk him on a leash so they started going through their home and found the swifter. So if you have a swifter...throw it out, and please please spread this on to anyone you know dog and cat owners alike.

Oh my gosh! Does this include the swifter wet pads?? I use this all the time?? Going into the trash right now...thank you..sorry about your friends baby..

Not sure of the wet pad ones, I'm asuming they use the same solution. There was on the wet jet in small print may be poisionous to small children and animals which triggered them to look at the ingredients. It was listed there but to verify they did cal the 800 number and they reconfirmed so I would double check. I have one of those bissle flip it's which works just as well and I just put my own cleaning solution in that I know is ok for my babies.

There have been threads about this in the past, and unfortunately this is an internet hoax that has been going around for quite a while.

I would advise that we all do a bit of research before throwing out your mops, or taking something written on the internet for face value ;)

Yah. This is a really old myth/rumor!

It's safe. I used one for 15 mos and Tae never had any issues. For 8 of those months she spent her days in the kitchen, which was the room I was Swiffering several times a week.

That's a myth. An old one too. Except it used to be antifreeze or something like that that was supposedly in the product. It isn't, and neither is arsenic.

If you do a search of these forums, you'll find some old threads on it - and the rebuttal. On the internet generally too.
