My baby girl Brandi goes in for surgery in the morning. She's been in and out of the vet since last week, after numerous tests and x-rays they discovered her stomach has flipped. It's flipped enough, I guess, that is what's causing her to throw up everything she eats and diahhrea. But not enough to where it's cutting off blood vessels to then we would have major major problems. She looks horrible, she has lost so much weight in such a short time. All she does is curl up in her chair or up on my bed to sleep. Once all the blood work came back and there was nothing that was yelling, this is why I have been so sick, it was a process of elimination. I am glad they found what is wrong but at the same time am worried sick about tomorrow.

Has anyone else dealt with this with their Boxer?

Please keep Brandi in your thoughts and prayers!!! I will update as soon as I can!

UPDATE on Brandi

UGH!!!! So I dropped her off this morning, she's been in there so much over the past week and a half she was none to excited. They are so good there, they just let her run around till more people start showing up then they have to put her up. After dragging my feet, I finally left.:(

Talked to the vet, I am not very happy with what he had to say. He "THINKS" he fixed the problem. Thinks, what kind of response is that?? Her stomach wasn't twisted when he got in there. He said her spleen was not exactly where it was suppose to be and had some discoloration, so he took a biopsy of that. He said her small intestines didn't look very healthy, but he wasn't sure if it was due to her stomach being twisted or from being sick for so long. He said that when he was reading on a whole bunch of stuff, that sometimes the stomach will turn/twist, then go back to normal, and keep doing that off and on. He did a culture on, heck I can't remember what he said, I was so taken back by the "thinks" comment, I was still processing that. He said he did the procedure where they "tack" the stomach and her side together so if her stomach did flip at one point, it won't do it again. She was starting to wake up when I was talking to him, so she was coming out of everything okay. He said, he wishes he was more confident that he fixed what was wrong.

I will pick her up at 4:00 and bring my baby home. Keep your fingers crossed that this will solve whatever was making her so sick. She can't afford to lose anymore weight, she has already lost 12 pounds, she is nothing but skin and bones. Someone that doesn't know better would think we are neglecting her but that isn't the case by any means. She is spoiled rotten, they both are.

When I pick her up I will have him reexplain everything to me so maybe I can grasp what he said.

I will keep you updated!!! Thank you sooooooo much for all the well wishes. I will pass them on!!!! ;)

{{{{{Jeanette}}}}} Bless your heart.. and hers! It is terribly frustrating when you can't feel safe with a vet's diagnosis.. or lack there of.. I so pray that what he has done with fixing her stomach so it does not turn, is the answer, and that she or you have to go through anymore bad times. Just so scary when this happens.
angelicon watching over you both.

Oh Jeannette what a terrible day you've had!!! I am so sorry and will continue to send all good healing vibes!!
It sounds like the vet may be right that the there was a tortion of the stomach that would reverse itself or not turn completely...you can rest assured now that you will not have to worry about Brandi having a tortion of her stomach after he tacked it, so that is good!! He may be right that the sm intestines are just traumatized by the whole situation....Poor Brandi will need, (and I am sure will get!!) a lot of TLC over the next few days...please keep us up on her progress!!
