What a Boxer HERO your fur-girl is!

Our family has 2 Boxers (one watches over our daughter & her family) and the other one watches over our home. BOTH have proven themselves to be heroes over and over again! Always instantly placing themselves in harms way to save us and keeping us from being hurt or harmed risking their lives for ours.

This last week my daughter's 1 year old Boxer saved her twice.

Once from an unknown intruder (human or animal) and then a few days later from fire.

One night my daughter noticed her Boxer was standing like a stone statue in front of her front door with ALL of the hair on her back up (normally she only puts up a narrow ridge of hair if worried). When my daughter tried to open the front door to see what her Boxer was worried about, her dog wouldn't let her go out and kept pushing her away from the door and blocking her exit and using her body to reclose the door. When my daughter tried going to the back door to see what was happening outside, her Boxer ran over, blocked the back door and wouldn't let her go outside again. It took 20 minutes for her Boxer to give the "all clear" signal and then her Boxer went back to playing with her dog toys as though nothing had happened.

Two days later my daughter was talking with a girlfriend on her couch, who was visiting for the day, and her Boxer ran up to her, barked in her face, jumped up and began pawing at her chest, which of course was a no-no. My daughter told her to stop and go away. Her Boxer wouldn't stop and only got more frantic. Pretty soon my daughter heard fire truck sirens and smelled smoke, she put her Boxer on her leash, went outside with her and her dog kept trying to pull her across the street heading west. My daughter looked east and saw that a house in back of her house (which was east) and three houses north of her house was engulfed in flames!!! Boy were my daughter AND her friend impressed with the wise guardian behavior of her 1 year old Boxer!!!

Normally if her Boxer hears things outside that she doesn't like, she wants to go check it out, but in the first instance, whatever it was, either a strange person or a large animal, her Boxer wanted to make sure she went no where near it!

Amazingly mature behavior for a 1 year old Boxer!

Wow I have heard some really touching stories tonight! Isn't it amazing how they just 'know' these things ... the love of a boxer amazes (not surprises) me every time.

Mabel is such the hero - I think extra lovin is in order for her, but I am going to take a bet and say that is not a problem right now, haha! I'm so glad that your son is okay. I have asthma and know that an attack can be a very scary thing, especially when it wakes you up at night (had many of those as a young'n).

Again, glad to hear everyone is safe! Give Mabel some love from us! ;)

Way to go Mabel! What an awesome dog. How terrific that she is so perceptive!

Boxers are absolutely the smartest dogs.

Completely Boxer Crazy
Mabel, you are brilliant! This one brought me to tears too, not easy to do. :)

Our friends lost their 11 year old son 6 years ago to a severe asthma attack that they couldn't get help quickly enough for. Makes me wonder, what if they had a Mabel, and could have helped him sooner?

Thank God your son is OK, and for your little angel boxer girl.
