Suggestions for leather furniture

Ours is holding up!

We have an 8 year old 3-piece set (couch, love seat and individual recliner) from The Room Store. All of the seats recline and both of our boxers are allowed on the furniture. We have had a cat and three boxers since getting the furniture, and had a bulldog and standard poodle visiting occasionally, too. I, also, love it. Much easier to clean and leather doesn't absorb odors the way fabric does.

We have also kept up with the conditioning. If we bought the $70 cleaning/conditioning kit, we got a 5 year warranty, or something like that. (We just ran out of both the cleaner and the conditioner last weekend!)

The instructions we got were to clean and condition every six months.

I don't like the idea of leather... we bought it because of Mick's allergies. Since we plan on having boxers in our lives forever, I expect we'll have leather couches from here on out.

We just bought new leather furniture last weekend from ArtVan, (I'm not sure if the chain is exclusive to Michigan or not) but we paid extra to have some sort of protection put on it, and it is guaranteed for life against cracking. We also bought a leather cleaning/conditioning kit from them to use on it. The good thinig is that when ever we run out of the conditioner all we need to do is bring back the empty bottle and they will refill it for life. (We are suckers, so I'm not sure if that was a good deal or not, but seemed good at the time!) Anyway, so far so good. I love not having to vaccum the couch everyday, just wipe it off. And the leather does not absorb any doggie odors! Anyway, my whole set, couch loveseat and chair was not even half of $6000. It is not top of the line either, but it is a good quality.

My leather couch is over ten years old and has held up relatively well considering that it has really taken a beating from the children and three dogs. I only purchased a new set from Macy's (with a lifetime warranty) because I just renovated the house. ~ Cathy

We have a Natuzzi "worn" leather couch and even when Nestle does the burn, the marks rub right in. Go for a thick leather. We went for the worn look as it never really ruins cause that is the look. Get the service plan but don't tell them you have a dog. Got all our furniture at Macy's. They have a great plan and great service.

We have a leather couch and loveseat that is 10years old and I wouldn't want anything else. It is so easy to clean and doesn't hold any smells. We condition is about once every 3 months. Our Boxer doesn't like it, I think that she finds it too cold. We also just purchased a leather recliner.

Just make sure that the frame is good quality. Because it does make a difference. I believe ours is oak or something like that and all of the cushions are separate pcs, so they can be taken off and cleaned or repaired if needed.

And if you do find it too cold, you can always put a nice blanket on the seat area, which is what I do.

We bought a leather couch and 2 chairs with ottomans last summer and I love it. I made sure the leather was thick, some of it is really soft and seems like it would tear. It is so nice not to have couch covers to tuck in all the time and no smell. We paid about $4,000 for all of it. The bonus is the dogs don't really like the leather they like to have a blanket to lay on.

We have had a leather couch (both ends recline) for about 3 years now and it looks great. Holds up well to boxer feet and is very easy to clean. We purchased it at Steinhafels Furniture for $1000 and got a lifetime supply of leather cleaner and conditioner and an awesome warranty. Cuts, burns, or dog damage repaired or replaced for free for 7 years.
