hi! Yesterday my older boxer my 8yrs old now had red eyes and something like a dropped eye lid. He wanted to scratch it terribly. Chamomile seems to do good to it. Can somebody recognize this from pics?
He seems to have terrible difficulty to keep the one open though both are red.

I'll post the pics asap and add the link

Look up Horners syndrome, but I would also get him to the vet. He is very, very handsome by the way...

He might have a scratch on his eye. When my boxer gets a scratch this is how his eye looks and he tries to rub his face on everything. A vet can stain his eye and tell you for sure. I will take him in as soon as you can get an appointment with a vet. Good luck.

I would by some polysporin ears and eyes and put a couple drops 2-3 times a day for a day to 2 and then if it doesn't start to improve take him in to the vet.Our boy had cold in his eye before cost us dearly to find out the vets like to freak us out with a whole lot of neg stuff so you'll do blood work stool sample exrays ect.Anyway $300 for that trip for cold in his eye they said it was like kids if they put their head out a car window when it's cold they can get cold in their eye dogs get it too.So my husband being unhappy with the vet thinks we get ripped says ok so if this happens again you tell me it's gonna cost $300 each time and says to the vet what can I get from the drug store that is human that I can give him and the vet said if we couldn't get in to the vet to just get some polysporin ear and eye and give the same dose as a child, yup $6 fix after that.It looks the same to me but I'm no expert of course just sharing our story.

I would get him to a vet. It looks like when my husband had Bell's Palsey. Which is caused by a virus. There are several other things it could be. Like Eileen said, Horner's Syndrome, or some kind it injury near the ear. I hope you boy is better soon!

Molly scratched her eye and it looked similar. It is very painful for them. I would get it checked soon, it could be a number of things.

hm... i payed 300 to the vet too the other time...

and no i wasnt happy for that. i treated my dog holistically with gse for giardia (sorry for mentioning a different issue) that my dog MAY had and avoided the toxic flangyl she recommended... I feel so shitty about vets and i have to see my boy suffer and not be sure cause hey! at this time of my life... i dont have 300!!

Anyway... I read some nice articles... it seams cod oil will help. and raspberry tea leaf.

He either scratched it or he's allergic to something. It gets much better with chamomile and I've been vacuuming the carpet excessively lately in case it was the baking soda I spread on it that day...

Sorry for the ones who dont do holistic, i meant to post the article there. I switched to it since 7 years ago and it works wonders for me and my dogs

just remember the last time i went to MY eye doctor for MY eye and he insisted on using drops with cortisone in... but chamomile just made it go in a night! I need doctors ONLY to tell me what it is lately... then unfortunately i have to take my eyes off in a computer and find out everything myself... and you know how stressing that is.... anyway, its not that much after 8 years of having two dogs... and after 100% success... i keep going. thanks for the info, I'll let you know how cod oil goes...

By the way Grapefruit Seed Extract killed the "giardia' and at least my pupps are very very healthy at all other terms... He's 8 yrs old and people go wow! when he see him!!!! all the time. Somebody today said: What a healthy boxer!!! :)

maybe corneal ulcer

It could be a corneal ulcer. You should get to a vet asap b/c corneal ulcers are painful and they usually take a while to heal. My Marley had corneal ulcers in both eyes and they looked like your dog's eye. It took hers 2 months to heal but she was also on Prednisone. I just had to give her drops and ointment 2-3 times a day.

yes it is corneal ulcer
we went to the doctor, we treated it and it was going well...

today a doctor who was sarcastic and ignoring my telling her that Cybe is very allergic to chemicals she insisted on antibiotics for the underlying infection and I think Cybe got an immediate reaction: cataract on his "healthy" eye. A white diamond is in the center of his left eye.........
