I am so glad I read this post - I came here specifically to get reassurance about boxers and babies. We have a 2 year old boxer Simon who we adore - he is the most lovable little guy but he is very, very spoiled and clearly the baby of the house. My husband and I are expecting twins within the next 2-3 weeks and I have had some concerns but reading this thread really helped. Simon has been much more gentle with me through the pregnancy and we have introduced him to the nursery and let him sniff everything - we talk about the babies coming all the time to him. I am confident that all of our babies will get along well.
Thanks for such a great thread.
), but a lady that I work with just had a nephew born a few weeks ago, and they have an English Bulldog. The dog has been around all kinds of other kids (at least 5 kids) since they've had her, and no kid aggression or anything. Well, this coworker of mine actually said if she were the husband, she would poison the dog (he doesn't want it around, the wife does)!! I lost so much respect for her with that one sentence. I thought she was an animal person. Boy, was I wrong! I guess she could tell what I thought about it by the look on my face, b/c then she says "or atleast start putting it outside all the time". Yeah, that's better! Take a poor dog who's been inside for her whole life (at least 6 years) and throw her outside. I guess I was in shock b/c I couldn't even say much for a minute. But I did compose myself and told her that if I had another baby, Boomer would definitely be his big brother. She just said, Oh, I would be so worried about my baby! GRRRRR!!!! Any way, sometimes there is no getting through to the thick-headed!
