So, it's like this.

Me and my fiancee went to go see a puppy last week, fell in love with her, and he surprised me last night by saying he bought her! We finally have a fur baby! We pick her up next Friday and I couldn't be more excited.

BUT, the whole time we've been looking to adopt, we've been gravitating towards male pups. SO, I had a slew of boy names picked out, but I have no idea what to name a girl! For whatever reason, I just don't love most girl names I hear, so I'm at a total loss what to call our new bundle of joy.

HELP! lol
For girls, I would would love to hear some ideas for either a more gender-neutral name, or a strong name, or sometimes I like a really old-school name. I'll list the names I liked for a boy and maybe that will help you understand my taste. Thanks guys!

Hugo
Bill
Eli
Newman
Orson
Wilko
Ezra
Sawyer
Gatsby

And..

Plus, you should know, she's really smart, loving, social, but also pretty gutsy. Hard to rattle her.

I like the name Athena.

And wikipedia says it is "the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, warfare, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, justice, and skill."

When I was looking for my first boxer I was looking for a male too, and then I brought home a female. So we named her Harley.

The first name that came to mind was Greta. Then I read your second comment and along with the gender neutral thought came Thatcher, as in Margaret.

Thanks for the help and keep em coming guys!

Right now, the names at the top of our list seems to be Murphy, Reagan and Presley, in that order. I feel much better now at least having a few I like. We'll bring her home and get to know her a little bit before we decide though....let her have some say in the decision. ;)

If you guys have any other ideas, throw em out there.

She has a hair and a shoe fetish...typical girl.

That's where Murphy came from. She seemed intrigued by the Johnston and Murphy shoes her new daddy was wearing...lol

hehe. I was going to ask if Murphy was for Murphy's law :)

I think girl names are kind of hard until you actually meet the puppy.

When I went to get Charlie I knew I was naming him Charlie before I even met the little guy (not so little anymore hehe) and I met him and he was def a Charlie.

Jersey on the otherhand took us a few days.... We named her Jersey because she is a bit of a loud mouth and kinda a b***h sometimes. Like New Jersey (the DH is from NJ)LOL

For girl names though that are gender nuetral I like the following:

Charlie
Morgan (I actually LOVE this name for boys)
Bentley

Otherwise I like these names (these are in no order):

Alice
Athena
Aphrodite
Rhea
Theia
Moxie
Callie
Isis
Saphira

Thats all I've got at the moment. :)
