Stealing your seat...

Hi all. Our baby girl, Samantha, has lifted the former rule of no dogs on the couch. She won't lay anywhere else (that's fine, she's just so darn cute!). My question is this: whenever one of us pesky humans gets up from the couch, she immediatley moves into that spot. Don't know if it has something to do with the body heat (she loves to snuggle) or if she's just a brat! Does anybody else's baby do this?:confused:

I think the only thing worse than losing your seat on the couch, is losing your spot in the bed. Mercedes wakes me up around 2am to go outside, and then it is a mad dash back to bed. I can never out run her. She always lays in MY spot, on MY pillow! How fair is that? When I scoot her over she looks at me as if she is the one who is being treated unfairly! The nerve of that little spoiled brat!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure "spoiled brat" is the key words here! All of our babies seem to have that same trait!

Clara ALWAYS steal whatever seat I get out of. She'll steal the couch when I get up, whatever chair I might have been in, and the bed in the morning But it is cute

I've got kinda the reverse. My kitten will bug the dog until she moves, then jump into the dog's fleece bed. If the dog comes back and demands her spot back, the kitten hisses then rolls over as to say "talk to my back"!

Diamond also does this, I just thought it was another one of her little "spoiled brat" quirks. She also took my spot in bed this morning when I left for work, that was the first time she has done that though! BUT don't EVER even dare to take her spot!! It's so funny how much all of our boxers have in common.:p

Yep,
Brandi is the only one that does it here. Every time anyone get up she goes right to that seat. My hubby will get up and when he gets back she is right in his chair, then I get up and leave she jumps right off his chair and goes to my spot on the couch. It 's who ever moves last loses their seat. I don't know if it is body heat or just wanting to be where we are she has all the other dog to lay with and on top of so it isn't that she has no comfortable spot she just likes ours.:rolleyes:

Both my babies do this, it's hilarious. It's like they are just waiting. Kiki is a little worse, she'll come up to cuddle, put her head behind my back, then work the rest of herself behind me, then "BOOM", she pushes me right off. I can't do anything but laugh at her when she does it!

I should have just purchased a couch with no ends (arm rests) because I never get to sit on the end. Ty and Kaylee don't like the middle of the couch, they always go straight for the arm rests so they can spread out their flews all over the edge (especially enjoyable after supper time when bits of wet food also get spread all over the arm rest) If I am lucky enough to beat them to the couch and actually claim an end seat, I had better hope that I don't get hungry, have to go to the bathroom, the phone or doorbell rings etc. because if I have to get up for any reason at all my spot is gone :rolleyes: Sometimes I try and outwit them by waiting until they are asleep then quietly getting up, tiptoeing to the kitchen without them knowing. I always think I've done it because I can't hear them move, but when I tiptoe back there they are suddenly wide awake staring back at me proudly from the end seat as if to say NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA!! They are probably just pretending to sleep so that I'll get up (stupid human :p )
