Hello Keith and Susan ("Spotty's People"),
I decided to take a look around this site, Monday (my boxer) has been having very similar problems lately and I was hoping to find someone who could maybe help me as well. A few days ago Monday also was getting off of the couch after one of her naps and she collapsed and slightly looking stiff but legs were stretched out in front of her and trembling slightly. Just like you we were hoping it was just a one time thing so were we, but again this afternoon she came to me with an itch on her eye (we never let her scratch near her eyes... so we gernerally rub them for her until her itch is gone) anyway she started to walk away witch sort of looked like a slite twitch still from her itchy eye.... but she slowly started to lie down and rolled over on her side and went stiff... and legs straight out in front of her on her side, but this time as you said the second one was a little more serious in nature as was this... when she stiffened out she lost controll over her bladder which she has never done before. We called the vet and took her there imediately.. the vet took her heart beat which was normal, and took some blood tests, suggesting it could be epiletic seizures and can have her put on medication. Your situation with Spotty sounds very scaringly similar to what we are going through with Monday. I will have an update when the blood work comes in tomorrow. Monday is 8 years old... the vet also things it could be because of her age which dogs usually show signs of epilepsy. I wish Spotty good health, and would like to hear more as to what the conclusion is. I will keep yous posted as well.

Oh how awful... sorry to say, but that sounds even worse than Spotty (but I wasn't home to view it, hubby said it was so horrible to see the second time)..... I sure hope that you find something soon that can help Monday..... Keep searching other options.... I know it is scary, & you are having a rough time, worrying, wondering. Hang in there.

I've been considering Thyroid tests & going chiropractic, since other tests turned up nothing. He's been on hearworm meds regularly since moving to this warmer climate, so that is likely out as an option, too.... He is probably closer to 6 than 5 years old, & in really great shape (heart, lungs, organs, etc.), so who knows!

But today he seems almost fully recovered! Miracle of miracles. We are still hoping that his "episodes" were brought on by the Kennel Cough virus. The coughing/barfing is almost down to nil, & he has lots of energy back (barking at dogs walking by, cats, wanting the morning walk...).

We hope that there won't be a recurrence of the trembling/whatever-it-was episode. There may be other things involved, but w/o a CAT scan or some such thing, we may not know.

Good luck to you & Monday....
Susan

Thanks Again...

Spot is completely recovered.... and now is even playing with Mosely & their "girlfriend"! Today he was really playing!!!! I was soooo excited to see that! It is a long way for the old Spot to have come! When we got him, he didn't even know what toys were for, let alone another dog!

We can't believe it, he seems like a different dog. Perhaps something has been jarred loose in his ol' brain & is going to become a regular, playful boxer now!

Anyway, he is energetic, happy & playful. Still eating like a pig & wanting more.
The vet's office figured that since Mo & said 'friend' didn't get it, Spotty may have had only a mild case of KC because of the vaccine still in his system. (His vaccination was in Sept. Mosely had his with the last of his puppy vaccinations in Jan., as did the 'girlfriend'!)

We wouldn't wish this stuff on anyone. Lots of sleeplessness, worry, laundry & carpet-cleaning!

Thanks for all your concern. We really appreciated all the moral support & suggestions. We'll still probably have the Thyroid testing done due to his age, but for now.... we sit tight & hope it is all over.

I'm really happy to hear that Spotty is doing so well. It sure is a big relief isn't it! I'll bet you have a ton of fun coming your way with the "new" and improved Spotty!
