Hi!

Not sure if this is the correct forum - won't be offended if you move this but....

My 6 almost 7 year old white boxer Bailey has small black spots that show through his white fur on his belly (actually on his back too), and as he ages they seem to multiply...someone told me that as they get older this happens...

What are they and why is this happening?

I have a white boxer also and she has the same spots. She is 7 now and the ones on her back have almost merged together although she does have some pink still showing through. I think this is just how their skin gets as they get older. It looks really funny when their fur is wet. They are the cutest dogs!!

It's just the pigmentation in their skin. It's perfectly normal. Coloured boxers probably have it too, but you just can't see it. :) The spots do tend to increase as they get older.

Colored boxers have it too - most noticeable and progressive on their bellies, but noticeable on the darker fur, too, if you part it in different areas.

I was also wondering about this. Daisy had a few spots when we rescued her, she was almost 4 months. Now she is 10 months and the black spots on her skin are still multiplying like crazy. I was hoping it would stop when she reached adulthood but it seems it will never end. She also had a few tiny spots of light brown hair on her back about the size of a pencil eraser. Now there are too many to count. I've had one person ask me if she was mixed with Dalmatian.

Same thing here too. Delilah's getting more spots on her skin and her fur. she used to not have any spots on her fur, now getting several on her back and neck. Several people tell me she must be mixed with dalmation as well.
So, don't worry about it ;)

I have a brindle and a fawn with white and the spots can be seen throught the white. Jasmine just started getting them at a bout 8 months onf age.

Yes it is perfectly normal. My white boxer is a "brindle" which I can tell from his spots on his skin and th brindle patch by his eye. As he gest older he gets more. You will also notice on flashy boxers, that onthe white they also have the same spots. It is just the skin pigmentation but doesn't tranlate to the hair in those area of white. Nothing to worry about.
