i thinks there is something wrong with people breeding two differant breeds together breeding is supposed to be done to improve a breed can't do that with two differant breeds and the purpose of breeding them is to make money so yes it is wrong and it does affect more than the egnorant it affects all of us who love dogs and most importantly it affects the poor dogs .......

Mixbreeds

I myself as a child owned many "humane society dogs" ones that have been carelessly or mistakenly bred and then thrown to the pound. Some of them were great dogs (i.e. my lab-collie mix) some where not! My point is that unless you know what you are doing as a breeder you should NOT Breed ANYTHING perhaps not even yourself LOL It takes a lot of time and money to do it the right way. I mean alot of people forget about the puppy shots and if they need their dew claws removed, tails and ears done and general vet visits, for anywhere from 1 to 11 dogs at a time! I just wish people were smarter and the ASPCA or Humane society had more power to do something about dingdongs who think they are backyard breeders!

I have a mixed breed dog that I love very much!! He is the best dog, besides my 3 boxers of course that I've ever had. I'm sure there are lots of people on this site alone that have mixed dogs that they love dearly, so how does that affect dog lovers??

P.S. I don't agree with selling a mutt for the money, so don't get me wrong on that part. It's just that mutts are out there and they need to be loved just as much as a purebred dog.

i don't have a problem with mixes my akita is probably a mix i think thier great, my issue is people who breed mixes on purpose and try to sell them as somthing rare or people who just don't bother to fix thier dogs and add to the already over population....

Mixes are going to happen, but they should be happening with less regularity (note: should!), not more. Mixed pets make great pets. But should they be bred?
I agree the mixed pups should be given the same love and opportunities as the pure breds, but lets face it, anyone who's ever gone to a pound can attest to the ratio of mutts to pure bred (approx 99.5%/.5%). Hence, spay or neuter EVERY pet that's not intended for breeding as early as possible to avoid the mistakes that result in another litter of pups ending up at the pound.
And I've got little problem with people required to obtain some form of 'license' before breeding to sell pets, with financial penalties for unlicensed breeders. Poorly bred pets can be potentially dangerous! (As I suppose most any 'pet' could be). At least a person 'licensed' could be required to have training in quality breeding practices, health testing requirements, etc. This could help assure more healthy breeds (less undesirable traits/genetic health issues passed on), etc.

Have you ever looked up bullboxer????? there are alot of sites that people have on them it boxer/ pit mix. I was gonna get one befor i got my full blooded baby Bailey. But after I did my research I couldnt get one. I lived with my grandparents at the time and they said no way. I hate the bad rap that pitbulls get but I think its all in how you raise them just like any dog ..... any do can be mean at any time even if you raise them right. I know a few people that have pits and there kids craw all over them. But thats not to say that it wont change. The kids need to respect the dog to. But as for your point I think that there are so may dogs out in the world that need good homes and sometimes they dont get it. And its sad that you can just talk to one person and start haveing pups without back rounds on both. Its good to vent!!!

Man... more looking into it makes me realize even more that people are just trying to make a buck off these mixes. There are at least 27 different 'poodle' mixes - apparently you can mix a poodle with just about any dog - give it a (cute) name - and pass it off as a breed (for the unscrupulous BYB). I must admit though, the name 'Doodleman Pincher' made me laugh. And of course there's the Boxerdoodle.

Not to mention there's the "American Canine Hybrid Club" who will certify, in no uncertain terms, that your pooch-a-doodle is indeed a mutt. As if it required a 'club' for that purpose. But I suppose having some form of official sounding affiliation just adds to the 'legitimacy' of these mixes and encourages people to charge, and foolish people to pay, lots of money.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PEOPLE, If you want a mixed breed, great - go to any SPCA! The pounds are FULL of them! And be sure to have it spayed/neutered!

Good thinking kragbax!!! If more people thought like us (on BW) there would be no dogs that dont have homes!!! Did you look up bullboxer? I wanted one so bad befor i look up stuff! but pits get such a bad RAP!! I feel so bad for them dogs. I told my boyfriend i want a rotti when we move in the country He
goes on hunting trips 2 times a year and it wiil get worse when we gets older!!!!
He said NO NO NO..... My friend has 6 rotties and they are the most sweetests things in the world (besides my boxers)!!! But they are very well behaved dogs and great with kids. Her oldest is 10 and she is just like a pup!!!! So cute.
