Both of ours absolutely love bath time. The 1 year old can't get enough of the bath, he just stands there letting me soap him and rinse him off. Drinking the water and trying to lick the soap of him the entire time. The 5 month old does the same thing, the only problem is my back when were all through!!

When I am taking a bath both dogs will drink the water and try to eat the bubbles. So they both love the water :) If I lock them out of the bathroom they stand at the door crying to get in. So needless to say, they are right there sleeping until I get out.

mine don't care either way

My boxer doesn't care either way whether she is in the tub or out. I do still lift her in (she is 60 punds now) but she sits or stands fairly still right up until I drain the water out out of the tub and get her somewhat dried off. I have even *ALMOST* got her to the point that she doesn't drink the water - certainly a lot less than she used to.

Now, the bulldog, however, I cannot put very much water in the tub cause he just lays down on his side - he practically goes to sleep - I just flip him over when I am done cleaning one side ;) I bathed him last night and when I had drained all the water out, he was laying there with a look that clearly said : "what did you do that for? Now I'm cold!!"

So I guess overall, I am lucky - neither baby even attempts to jump out until I tell them to.

That is so cute, it just makes me want a Bully even more!

Peanut Butter!!

I don't know if yours likes peanut butter as much as mine but that's how I get Bentley to sit in the tub long enough to get his bath. You can just stick some on the side of the tub and he just licks and licks and licks and doesn't seem to care too much on what's going on. Every once in a while he runs in the bathroom hoping there will be peanut butter still left over :)

I guess we're lucky too because Coco loves loves loves bath time. She has always liked water and getting baths since we got her as a wee little thing. She was only 5 weeks old when we brought her home :o I didn't know any better at the time. In any case I don't know if that's why she likes it or what but I've never had any trouble with her getting clean. I generally can't keep her out of the shower or tub. She gets in with us. At our new house she can step right into the showers in two of the bathrooms. When we were there over the weekend, she got in our shower in our master bath and sat down & looked at me like "mom, let's shower, I'm ready"...silly girl. I guess I would try coaxing him in with treats and then gently pet & keep telling him what a good boy he's being. Just make it as comfortable as you can and play with him in the water.

Brandy's bath

The only way that I can get Brandy to calm down during her bath is to get in with her.... I guess knowing that there is someone in there with her settles her. I tried everything else and she always freaked out. I finally grabbed the bathing suit and just got in with her. Now she loves it!! queenicon

Tre hates bathtime.

I have to "sing" to Tre while I'm bathing him. I sound terrible, but, he listens to me.

I think the trick is to get them acclimated to the bath while they're still small and manageable. Since we got our Dempsey (8 weeks), we gave him baths of just water. Now at 4 months, he is a BIT more comfortable with the bath. This way, hopefully, as he grows, he will get used to the fact that he just has to sit through it.

Btw: the whole time keep him excited "good boy"...high pitched happy voices and kisses :)

I agree with dempseysmama. When Brutus was younger he used to get a bath quite often. So, now he is used to the water and doesn't mind the bath. When Riley joined the family it seemed like we were always busy and couldn't do the bath thing quite as often. She hated the water, and did not like the bath at all. But, we didn't start her off young like we did Brutus. So, I completely agree with dempseysmama, her suggestions were great.

I've always taken Sammi in the shower with me. When she was a pup (a.k.a. BEAST!!!), I brought her in so I could keep an eye on her, then it just becamea "mommy & me" thing. Now, as soon as I slide the shower door, whether it's to shower or not, Sammi's right at my side. If I go in by myself and close the bathroom door with her on the other side, she cries until I let her in! She loves water...anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Gosh, she's cute :)

I take mine in the shower too! Me, a boxer and a pomeranian. Its a little crowded but it is so much easier and quicker. Fury loves the shower though. When she feels dirty she will sit by the shower and cry. Too cute!
