Today I took part in a scavenger hunt in the Ottawa area for raising funds for the Ottawa Humane Society. As a boxer owner, it was really inspiring to see people come together for such a great fundraiser! I hope that lots of donations were raised for the animal shelters, and that all of you have the chance to participate in a similar event in your home towns.

Could you post some ideas on how this event was carried out? I work with Mid-Michigan Boxer Rescue, and that sounds like a great event! We have a Boxer Bash planned for September, and maybe we could start everyone off with some type of scavenger hunt and they could end up at the Park?

Sniff n' Search scavenger hunt.
I will post the link for the general idea for the Ottawa Humane Society. Basically they got a local restaurant/bar to host the event. They asked for corporate sponsors and donations for prizes. We had a book of things we had to find: ie: bird feathers, crab grass, peppercorns, animal crackers, bendable straws, maps of Ottawa, etc.
There was also a page of information that you had to discover on your own. We had to walk around Ottawa and read plaques, monuments, etc. ie: How long is the Rideau Cana (the biggest skating rink in the world) What is the oldest building in Ottawa. What is Ottawa's motto. etc.
It provided a lot of education for all of us, and the $ went to the Humane Society. They had local celebrities, bands, bbq, raffles, t-shirts etc. It was really awesome and all of the $ went to the animals
