Sleeping on bed

all our dogs have slept in the bed with us. chloe was 92 pounds when she died and because of her we went out and bought a king size bed years earlier( the queen was no longer big enough with her). spanky loves to cuddle between us and everynight my husband tucks him in with his own pillow and blanket, now maxi wouldnt sleep on the bed no matter what we did, she would come up and play with us but lights out she left for the couch.

Ours don't sleep in the bed on a regular basis, they have dog beds right next to ours. Really our bed isn't big enough to sleep all four of us comfortably. The usual routine though is that when BF gets up for his shower in the morning the dogs jump in bed with me. Boxer kisses and wiggling nubs are the best alarm clock And whenever BF is out of town, or he comes to bed after I've already laid down, the dogs will be in the bed with me.

When we first brought Caney home as a pup, we made the mistake of letting her sleep in between us the first two nights!! THEN we started crating her -- big mistake! It probably would have saved us weeks of crying during the night if we hadn't spoiled her first off.

I would say, if you are going to make it a permanent arrangement, go ahead and let him sleep with you. As long as it doesn't mess up his housebreaking I see nothing wrong with it. But if he's going to get too big for the bed eventually, he'll be very upset once he's banished to the floor after months of getting to cuddle with mom.

Boxer that wont wake up!!

Have you ever had a boxer that just won’t get up in the morning? Ozzy sleeps at the foot of my bed every night but by the morning time his back is usually up against mine. So when I get up, I let him sleep while I take a shower and get ready. Once I’m done getting ready, I then spend the next 15 minutes trying to wake my dog up so he can go potty before I leave for work. I usually end up having to pull him out of my bed. Today, I carried him to the front door where he stretched real big then went outside. He looks at me with such a grimmace when I turn the lights on in the morning. He’s like a little kid!

We pretty much go through this Monday thru Friday. But then Saturdays and Sundays are different story though, Joey will get up @ 6:00 am everytime.

Both Roxy (64 lbs) and Ramsey (85 lbs) sleep with us. I love it! It gets a bit crowded sometimes we have a king size bed but I cannot imagine waking up without them every morning.

3 on the bed

Reason number one to have a king sized bed 3 dogs! when we had a cocker spaniel i encouraged her to get on the bed. and she would and as soon as she thought we were sleeping she'd jump down on the floor. it's reverse taboo i think ooh they want me on the bed i must seek out the floor. she was only 13 pounds fully grown but she could dodge us rolling if she was up on the bed.

charlie ah lovely 70 pounds of boxer loves to sleep between me and the hubby. the hubby swears it is a jealousy thing. but he is getting to where he also climbs down on the doggy bed from time to time.

lucy 60 plus pounds of rott/hound she was all about the bed because charlie was on it and what is his must be hers first. she's growing out of this too. i find her more often than not on the floor on my side of the bed.

tia 40 pounds of shep/sneakyneighbordog she loves the doggy bed. when she's feeling cuddly she will roll up into a ball at my feet on the bed but mostly if i move she groans at me and then crawls back to her bed.

at one point for a year we had all three sleeping in the bed with us. man i loved it because i'm always cold and these guys are instant blankie warmers. but they've grown out of the need to fight for who gets to sleep in between us and are gettting comfy in new places.

but i think charlie will always sleep up on the bed with me at least until i've been asleep for an hour or two then he wanders down to the floor and comes back up typically once the man has gone to work.

Minx will sleep on the bed with me until DH decides to get up off the couch and wander into bed. She then gets down and sleeps in her bed. She will sleep there until DH gets up in the morning around 5:00am. As soon as he is out of bed she gets right back up with me again.

I also have 3 dogs. All 80 lbs of my needy baby Elvis has to sleep as close to me as possible. He is my main snuggle bug and has to burrow his big head somewhere close to me. DH doesn't like him on the bed because Elvis always gives him his bad parts and me his sweet beautiful head.

Anyway, my girl (46 lbs, also boxer) usually sleeps with my two boys - I'm pretty sure she thinks she gave birth to them herself and that they are hers to watch over and protect. She has a near anxiety attack if she is parted from them. She also snuggles occasionally with me but really enjoys sucking up to my DH- they both think it's real funny Little bitch - hee hee.

My basset has gotten too old to get up on the bed now which is a good thing because he sheds WAY too much. Although in his favor, he did provide some major comfort, warmth and fantastic back support nine years ago when I was first pregnant- that has to count for something. Also, if you are on the floor - forget about it - he will climb up on top of your tummy and make himself comfy cozy- the floor is his territory you know.

DH is gone a lot - I couldn't imagine sleeping without at least one dog or child in the bed with me. Elvis and I have the greatest bond but all of our dogs have brought so much laughter, warmth and sunshine into the home, I couldn't imagine life without them and we all enjoy snuggling with them - even DH - I saw him -he is a closet snuggler - faker!

1 more thing... we were also going to "crate train" Elvis at night but I thought about how scared he must be after we swooped him away from his mama, daddy, sibblings (and all that was familiar to him) to a strange new scary place. Then placing him all alone in a crate without anyone so he could "cry out" his loneliness that I caused. It just didn't seem right to me when all he craved was some love, affection and probably his mama.

Having him there in the bed with me also made it easier for potty training. We saved crate training for times when he would be alone in the house and could potentially hurt himself. We always gave treats in the crate - or a new toy/bone. He still loves his crate today even though he is no longer "crated" in it anymore- it is a favorite napping spot during the day. He is not allowed on the bed at night UNinvited and he knows not to get up on the bed during the day. They just need to be taught these things.

By the way- when you have boxers a king bed is a necessity not a luxury!

i would love to have my babies sleep with me every night but my dh says there is no room.So when he is away traviling every other weekend my pups know they can sleep with me,i think i sleep better with them in my bed.
