Sleeping in our bed??

Let me share with you this boxer puppy's prayer!

Now I lay me down to sleep, The King-sized bed is soft and deep. I sleep right in the center grove, my human being can hardly move! I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight. And here is where I pass the night. No one disturbs me or dares intrude, Till morning comes and "I want food" I sneak up slowly to begin, My nibbles on my human's chin. She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth, I'm a puppy, don't you see? For the morning's here, And it's time to play, I always seem to get my way. So thank you Lord for giving me, This human person that I see. The one who hugs and holds me tight, And shares her bed with me at night. "My most favorite time!"
Sincerely, your new boxer puppy.

They all test us each night by rushing 100 miles an hour up the stairs to bed, like if they get there first they get to stay! We make them get down, and they sleep on the couch off of our bedroom. But, every morning about an hour before the alarm goes off-how they know this I do not understand-they all get up on the bed and cuddle with us. Much easier to sleep with them snoring on the couch!!

:) You should try sleeping with 6 of them!! We have a king-sized bed and 3 dog beds in the bedroom. Some start in *their* beds, and some start on our bed. Everyone has their *spot* when on our bed, and if one of them decides to lay in a different area, it throws the others off!! LOL

I also share my bed with two boxers, one kitty, and my boyfriend. My boys all love to cuddle with me. Bailey always likes to be nearest to me. If nike is laying next to me by my head Bailey will just plop down on top of him. He then inches his way to be close to me. Plus, they are so warm and cuddly!

It is not hard to retrain them to sleep off the bed, between Samson and my hubby, I had all I could take, both of them are bed hogs, after a lot of debating I decided to let my hubby stay in the bed at night LOL only kidding. I loved having that tiny little puppy in the bed with us, he was so cute, and I just couldn't let that tiny little body sleep all alone, but I think what I did in the beginning helped, Samson had the choice of sleeping in our room, either with us, in his crate (door always open), or in his own little bed next too us. When he got to be a year old was when I said that is it, no more bed. I gave him one of my old comforters, placed it the floor on my side of the bed, and he is as happy as can be, doesn't even try to sneak up on the bed with me, the bad part about that is, he is to well trained, on nights when I am freezing, and my hubby is on the nightshift, I have to plead and drag Samson on the bed with me, he gives me this offended look, as if to say, "No, you kicked my off, now you suffer with the cold." Athena our girl Boxer is another question, the floor is not good enough for her, she has always insisted on sleeping on couches, and my daughters bed, my daughter loves her there, so we stopped fighting this one.

I don't think it hurts at all to let them sleep with you when they are babies, I think they need that security for a while.

JoAnn owned by Samson 2 years and Athena 1 year

What a wonderful little poem! How appropriate too :)

My two sleep with me in my Queen sized bed. I found that if I don't let them push me and hog the bed (I can be as stubborn as they can), they soon get up and go to sleep somewhere else. I love having them in bed with me as I fall asleep, but I hate coming back from the bathroom and having to shove two boxers off my pillow so I can lie down again :D

I think any dog can be reconditioned. But do you really want to? When my dogs get frustrated and go sleep on the couch with each other, I miss them and am sad because I do really want them in bed with me. It is so comforting and I get such a feeling of warmth and love and security knowing they are right there next to me (on me), snoring away. :) Sure, they are real bed hogs, but I wouldn't want it any other way. :)

Be Afraid... Be VERY Afraid

It's happening, just like it did with my boxer. When they are small and cute, they melt your heart in to letting them on the bed with the promise that they will never disturb your night’s sleep... Then it happens. Seemingly over night even... They grow. And keep on growing. Until they take over the bed and push you out. Stop it... Stop it now before it goes too far. I may be too late already. But it's worth a shot. If you fail in keeping the pooch from hell (and I say this with a forked tongue)off your bed, Run... Run I tell you... Run. Because a good nights sleep as you know it is going to be a mere memory. I said RUN, and don't look back.

Oh hello! Our Bailey has been sleeping with us since day one. She knows the drill. We have a king size bed too. We have 4 cats too that sleep with us. It makes for a very crowed bed! Lately Bailey and my husband have been having snoring contests. They end up on the couch. It's so funny. Bailey starts at the foot of the bed and slowly moves up towards us in the middle. When she gets cold she climbs under the sheets and finds a pillow for her precious head. I wake up and starting smiling. We are so happy she is in our life!

Is this the same Bailey who was a Christmas present from hubby?
Didn't know if this was the same person I've met in chat.

If so (and even if not), are you coming to the boxer play day on May 6?
