When I first got Boa (4 yrs old rescue) my husband was in training OCS in Quantico.
so for 16 blissfull weeks Boa slept with his mommy, mommy this and mommy that then DH came home.
Now DH had never had any pet of any sort not even a daddy long leg! and sure enough his crazy wife (me :)) instead of breaking him gently to the joy of pet ownership when and got the most exhuberant, happy, bouncy, lound kind of dog.
- Hi CB I got a dog, a boxer you know!
- Humm ... hello dog
pat, pat, pat on the head.
- Hey he's following us in the house!
- Yes Dear, that where he lives, our house.
- Listen, I don't want the dog to come in the house.
- Ok Dear here are your bags, have a nice life!!!
I went in the house with my boxer shadow. 5 seconds later my husband's shadow came in too!!!
3 month latter I went to work and I reallized that I had forgotten some paperwork at home came, I found them BOTH in bed snoooozing away. :)
Boa was an extremly obedient dog, sleeping in our bed for 8 yrs didn't lessen any of his training

Too funny!! Bentley was being crate trained for the last 5 months of his puppy life.. however now the BF allows him to sleep on his dog bed and in the process of sleeping through the night he (bentley) manages to jump onto the king size bed and find a comfy spot between jon and I!!! So now when at the BF's house no kennel and on the bed but when at home with mom... in the kennel or on his dog bed! He is only 35 lbs (5 months old) and fits well anywhere for right now!!

We have a rule in the bedroom - only two allowed in the bed at once!

This is how it works:
*Storm & I go to bed at night while BF is at work.
*BF arrives home from work around 2am and Storm goes to her bed (still in the bedroom) automatically.
*My alarm goes off around 5am and the second my feet hit the floor Storm is up onto the bed with BF.
*BF & storm get up and some late hour of the day after long cuddles.

This means Storm only has 3 hours in her own bed a night but it is such a routine that usually she doesn't have to be told. It works really well and is only ever different if it is a weekend and we ask her up onto the bed.

mika's mama

Mika lets me share what she thinks of as her bed, if she gets in bed first she feels she should sleep in my spot. She moves when I want to get into bed, but gives me a look like she's so hard done by. She also needs to be under the covers with her head on a pillow,(sometimes I think she thinks she a person). As you can tell she's a big baby, and has always sleep with me from the time she was house broken. When it comes to behavior she is the most well behavied dog I have ever had. I never have to speak to her more than a couple of times, generally she listens the first time, even when we're outside and she sees pesky cat that teases her through the window. She'll stand there and shake but she won't chase him. I have her outside in my unfenced front yard with me while I garden and never worry about her at all.
I'm single, but if I get into a relationship Mika would decide if he could share the bed, like I said she thinks it's her bed.
