Sits on other Boxer

We have a 4 year old female boxer, Adrian, we've had for several years and a 1 year old male boxer, Cooper, we've had for three months. Cooper loves to sit on Adrian, all the time. He'll sit on her head, her but, her stomach, he just backs into her and sits down.

I haven't found any other postings on this. Does anyone have any idea what this is all about? Adrian puts up with it as she has taken on the "Mom" role, but sometimes she gets real annoyed at the weight on her head. No kidding!


Theres's no reason to stop the behaviour but I'd sure like to know what is behind it. Thanks!

Boxer piles are pretty common, for some reason they love to sit/sleep on each other. Mine do it all the time, well mostly the younger lobs on the older one.

I have a 5 yr old rottie and Ozzy is 1 1/2, OZzy always sits on Ryker, its so funny! He just sits on his head like its the floor! I am sure the above links will help!

Ginger also sits on Hammer every chance she gets. Just walks up and plants her little butt right on him. :p Silly boxers!

Our youngest Jasmine sits on Bailey ALL the time. I guess we are used to it now since she has does this since we brought her home at 8 weeks. Here is a pic of them:

All these pictures are hysterical! I love the "boxer pile" reference. I don't know how they can stand it in the warmer months. After laying all over my lap and cuddling up at night, I am ready to have heat stroke!

I know its very cute to see them do this but I believe its a dominance thing. If he is still a puppy Adrian is probably just tolerating it for now and will put him in his place when he is older, either that or she is fine with him being boss.

Well, I only have 1 boxer, but I can tell you that Lexi is a leaner. She leans against me whenever she can. I think it is a "Scarlett O'Hara complex"

If I'm sitting on the loveseat and won't give up my spot (which I normally do) Rock will climb right up and lay on top of Shelby...nose to nose- butt to butt. She don't care...she hardly opens her eyes. If she tries it with him he gets up and moves. LOL!! I think she's a bit too hefty for him.
