It's 4:30am here in Florida. I've hardly slept a wink. Poor Nina has been coughing, retching, and gagging all night. We boarded her over this last weekend as we had to make a short notice trip. The place came highly recommended and did verify she had vaccinations. She was vaccinated for it in April. I was told it was good fr 6 months.
I'm really worried about her. We adopted her from the SPCA 3 months ago. When they received her she had kennel cough, and she was treated there for one month. When I got her I took her to my vet who verified she was healthy. Now I'm worried she's got it again. I guess I'll be calling the vet first thing :((

Poor baby, I'm sure she will be fine. Kennel cough is just a horrible hacking, gagging sound that can drive your crazy, I know. Even if she had been vacinated she can still pick up the cough and the vaccine doesn't cover all the bordatella virus's. Lots of love and quiet time and the cough is also very contagious so you might want to keep her away from other dogs for a while. Good luck and ~HUGS~ to Nina :)

Thank you!! From everything I've read online, I'm pretty sure she has it. It's now 6:30. I went to bed at 12, and got maybe 3 hours of sleep off and on. She sounds so terrible. Every time she starts a coughing spell it wakes me up, and she wants to be loved on. The last time I spoke to the vet about kennel cough he told me it had to be treated with meds, and that it can actually be fatal if untreated. I'm going to call them in the morning to be sure.
PS, Our dogs look a lot alike. I have a pic pending approval in the brindle gallery.

To the vet we go at 3:50 today :(. She sounds like shes struggling to breathe, especially when she's laying down, which is all she wants to do. Poor baby is as sleep deprived as I am today.

It is always difficult when your furbaby is ill and the worry they will get worse. I'm sure her vet will prescribe just the right meds to get her on the path to wellness. Meanwhile, sending hugs and healing vibes Nina and Nina's parents!

Took Nina to the vet yesterday and confirmed she had kennel cough. Vet have her antibiotics for 10 days and a cough suppressant for a few days. We both finally got some sleep last night :) She's not allowed to play with our neighbors boxer until Monday to make sure he doesn't get sick. I think that's the worst part. They are so cute sitting in their driveways staring at each other.

I'm glad you got some meds and some sleep. I had 2 dogs get kennel cough after being boarded. I know the facilities can't control everything. Healing (((vibes))) on the way to Nina!
