What Angels you really are. He is such a sweet looking gent. You can see the joy and relief in his eyes. They just seem to know when they are rescued. I hope he will live the remainder of his life in peace and security of knowing that his life is loved and cherished.

Well the 1st is the earliest flight I can get. So I would be able to pick up King on the 2nd or 3rd, which ever is good for Yvette and Leezah. So you two just let me know when and where and we are good to go. Thanks you guys.

King is doing great and is no trouble at all.

King is doing great and has really been no trouble at all. He's been catching up on a lot of sleep and has a good hearty appetite. He's eating 4 small meals a day each feeding is about 20-28 oz of dry pedigree soaked and swollen in hot water, cooled and then I've been adding yogurt, sour cream raw egg or some bits of cooked chix not all at once. My hummer is drooling as he watches it get placed in front of King.

Hershey and King are getting along fine she goes over to see him and has a little sniff face to face and her happy tail is going as she says her hello. King has made claim of the loveseat in the basement den, I've been leaving the sliding glass door open so he can come and go as he pleases. He's had one accident in the garage and I think it may be because of the cement underfoot and what he has become accustomed to we'll work on that..Grass underfoot not carpet or basement floor. I just ordered a sliding glass doggy door from Lowes it should be here in a week or so I don't know why I didn't get one earlier. Hummers been enjoying going in and out on his own..

He's still sort of wiped out from his whole ordeal so we haven't had any boxer wiggles yet. He's taking it all in he's watching how I interact with Hershey and Hummer and he's realizing I'm a friend that can be trusted no pain here. I'm sure in addition to being neglected he was also physically abused. He cowers and blinks his eyes when you first approach him as if he's expecting to get hit or something. He pulls his feet away in such an odd way when I've tried to check out his so called pedicure, kind of like his paws may be sensitive to touch.. or something. My kids are enjoying him and I think he's liking all the attention they're giving him. My 5 year old Vanessa calls him "the old timey boy" our 2 year old Russell knows his name and corrects Vanessa no that's "king".

The weekend would work better for me Sat the 6th this way my husband can come along for the ride..and we'll probably check out some things to do with the kids in Chapel Hill or Durham. If this works out okay for both of you let me know. Leezah if you could send me a meeting location I'll do a mapquest so I can figure out driving time and distance.

I agree please keep us posted with pictures Heather of the old boy. You're heart is going to melt when you look into to those grateful knowing eyes of his. He looks like a baby seal. Oh get this I sent out his web page that Cheryl made of him to a few friends. Can you believe someone asked if he didn't have a home she would take him. Who knew! I told her this little luv was spoken for but I'm sure there are loads more like him.

If I can ever assist in saving another dog in my neck of the woods get in touch with me.
This has been so rewarding an experience for me...and like you said Leezah in a previous post the best way to honor our own boxer babies that are lucky enough to have a home and a family that will love them to the end.. is to open up your hearts and homes to give to another not so fortunate boxer/person/soul.

I'll keep you updated.

You all are so wonderful!

I've been following your posts for the past week or so and just wanted to say thank you for saving this sweet guy. It makes me so sad to think someone treated him with less respect and kindness than he deserved. I am so thankful he will have a new home with such loving people and fur siblings.

Every year for my baby's birthdays instead of getting them more toys (like they need more toys) I instead try and sponsor a dog that isn't as fortunate to have a wonderful loving homes like my two do

What a marvelous idea. Roxie's 1st birthday starts in 10 minutes, and I think I too will send a little something to our local rescue in her name.

I just found this thread and Its such a heartwarming story. Good luck with your handsome guy!

There's a thread to this thread By RavenGirl "king comes home on the 6th"

~I will miss him when he goes home to Heather & the boxer girls~

King has been a joy to foster. He is my first ever foster (but not the last)and I have come to love him as I do our other furry family members.
Heather is so excited about meeting him and getting him home. Her eagerness to have him home comforts me in knowing he will be so loved and cared for. He's only been here a week since yesterday, it amazes me how close you can become in such a short time I do beleive its a boxers ability to make you fall in love with them nearly instantly. He's made huge improvements. He's gained weight and is eating well.My vet thinks he may be 10-12 yrs old. He limps abit.My vet had a look at him last Friday I her if I should give him some buffered aspirn he looks like he may be in some discomfort when he walks, she said to hold off till his health is better stabilized. She thought he more then likely has arthritis along with cateracts in both eyes his hearing is good and his heart is strong. This is why my kids and I call him Old King Cole the Merry Old Soul..He's just so easy going. He has no conflicts with his foster boxer siblings. Even Hershey my senior girl nearly 10 is getting on along fine with him. I am trying to get some pictures of all 3 boxer babies together but their not making it easy for me..I'll see if Draymia can post some updated pictures to Kings website she made for him..
Well Heather just about a week and half to go and you'll have your boy home.
I'll be back between now and then with more updates about Kings progress.

Yvette

PS
When out with him at the vets office@ Banfield/PetsMart so many people came over to see him and say hello to such a sweet old boy. He's got this look about him that makes him so approchable. I of course explained his story to everyone.I felt I had to explain his condition and I didn't want anyone to think I was responsible for the way he looked..People were even looking at him in my van in front of StarBucks just talking away to him while I was inside getting a coffee.. He's got animal magnetism thats for sure

Just a quick update on Old "King"Cole..

There are a couple other threads about "King" I just figured I'd update the original. Heather, Leezah and myself all agreed to let King stay with me. Yahoo;)
I am so happy he's here! Its like he's always been mine. He's sort of come home..He reminds me so much of my old boy Striker who was PTS this May will be 2 yrs he was nearly 12..
Seeing King is like looking at Strikers ghost its very weird. All that knew and loved Striker have said the same thing..

Kings nasty sore on his leg is better, the fur is growing back over the sore..He's but a lot of weight on and is now eating much less.. He still prefers to stay in his own space (downstairs den on his love seat). I think its still to busy upstairs where we all are. In saying that though he's not afraid of vacuums, lawnmowers or noisy kids..He tries hard to stay out of Hersheys way, although they do get along he'd prefer not to test her limits. King actually made a bit of an attempt to chase Oreo the kitty the other day. Gave up right away. He wags his tail all the time now, its always upright and happy!

King and Hummers pictures are on the avatar I couldn't get Hersheys on because the file size was to large. So I'm still trying to get few pictures of all three of them together..and they are not making it easy..

Thanks again to everyone that sent King all those love vibes his way. It most definitely worked.. He's no longer the broken dog I met not even a month ago. I can not wait to see how much more he continues to improve.

Many heartfelt thanks to BW great members,
Yvette
