THANK YOU
all again - your support, it is absolutely amazing and so needed!
I am still too emotional to write alot, but I thought that I would share an email that I created and sent out to all my family and friends:
It's with a heavy hear that I have to tell you that we lost
Tegan (Ch.Jeb's Northern Star CGC, TDI, VAADC) to cancer on
Friday July 30th 2004. Tegan passed away peacefully at home.
She left us on her own terms - just the way she wanted.
Friday was a day of highs and lows. David and I moved into
our first house and we lost our beloved Tegan all in one day.
Tegan was a once in a lifetime dog - she accomplished more
than my wildest dreams. I have never had such a special bond
with a dog as I did with her. She has taught me everything I
know. She LOVED life to the fullest. She adored everyone and
every dog that she met - always had plenty of kisses for
everyone! Other than people her second love in life was food
- any kind of food, she was not picky at all.
Tegan came to me from a great breeder at 8 weeks old.
She was a ball of energy from day one. She obtained her
Canadian confirmation title at the tender age of
13 months old, and would have probably done it sooner if the
person at the other end of the lead knew what they were
doing (me)! This was only the beginning of great things to come.
Tegan and I did MANY classes of obedience together until we
found agility - that was her true passion!
Unfortunately due to a back injury we had to take a few year off.
During the years away from agility Tegan became a practicing
therapy dog with St.John's Ambulance Therapy program. We
visited hospitals and retirement homes at least twice a week.
After rehab on her back (chiro and physio - thank you to
Kathy and Mark) we were able to come back and play at
agility. Tegan showed the same enthusiasm and love for the
sport. In less than a year of very limited trialing she
obtained her Starters and Advance agility titles. She was
only three short Q's away form her Masters title! She amazed
us all! There is a great story posted on the Boxer agility site:
http://www.agilityboxer.com/articles/tegan.htm for those that
want to read more.
Tegan no only touched our lives profoundly, but she left a
lasting impression on everyone that met her.
Tegan and Owen are featured in the 2004 Boxer calendar by
brown trout. Proving that she is not only smart but pretty too!
Tegan jam-packed alot into her short 8 years of life.
Owen is doing OK throughout all of this. In one day his
whole life has been turned upside down. He lost Tegan (his
support and best friend) and we moved from a house that he
had spent most of his life in. We have been spoiling him
rotten (I didn't think we could spoil him any more).
Everyone's support has been amazing, and I thank you all from
the bottom of my heart.
Owen and I will be taking a break from agility for the next
while as we both heal and build our bond together. I will be
at the local shows to cheer you all on though.
See you or talk to all soon.
