I was looking on-line and I found this adorable white male pup. The breeder is wanting $550 for him. My wife thinks that it is high but the pup is the best that I have seen, and both parents are AKC registered and aparently show dogs. I talked back and forth to the breeder, she was very nice and understanding to my questions. My question to you is, is it wise to get a white boxer puppy? I am not in to show or anything. I just want a good family dog. Any responses would be appreciated.

I had a white puppy once! She is now 5! There has been lots of discussions on the health of white pups and how much one should pay for them. on this board! You should be able to do a quick search and find lots of topics.

My only suggestion would be that, if you are not up to raising a deaf pup, to ask the breeder if she can tell if he can hear. There is a slightly higher instance of deafness in the white boxer vs. color. For what it is worth, my girl has no "patches" of color and has one blue eye and one brown eye!

As for being a great pet, any color will do. My white girl is the best. She has her own personality, but that has nothing to do with her color!

Good luck with your choice! I would find the pup that fits in with your family the best. The color shouldn't be factor!

I see no reason not to get a white puppy. I don't think that the price is high at all. However, I would be sure to check out the whether the parents are show dogs (are one or both champions) and also, whether the parents have been health tested (and the breeder prepared to show you the documentation of this).
If the puppy is not deaf (the breeder will be able to tell you this) then the only negative that I can think of is that your dog must get sun-burned more easily than another dog so you would have to watch for this.

I have a white baby - and the only difference is all the attention he gets from strangers because so many people have never seen a white boxer!!!

Go for it!!! :D

Definately go for it if the breeder has done all the health checks and is reputable :)

Have got to say I could not believe the extra attention Finn gets because he is white with 2 eye patches. I have even had people run out of shops to see him.

The only downside is keeping them clean  they are dirt magnets.

As long as all the tests have been done~~yes!! I am the proud owner of a white boxer they actually call him checked because of his brindle patch but he is the most intelligent boxer I have ever seen(I brag alot) ;)
If you have a good feeeling about this pup......then I say go for it....Just posts lots of pics!

I don't understand :)

Why would the color matter? As long as health tests have been done on both parents and everything is ok, I mean they should be able to tell if this pup is blind or deaf, this is not the case all of the time, we have two beautiful white boxers. I wouldn't trade em for anything. They are Boxers, who cares what color they are :) My oldest boxer girl will be 13yrs next month, not too bad !
