She is soooo clever when it comes to her med´s

Everytime I have to give Lisa her antibiotics, she can see me reaching for the packet, nothing escapes her, she comes and sits at my feet waiting for them. She has worked out that her tablets mean a sausage. I cut the sausage in 3, break the tablet in 2, give her a piece of sausage so she gets the taste and then put the 2 pieces in the other 2 parts of the sausage. She has also figured out that if she spits the tablet out that means more sausage until she actually swallows the tablet, this could go on for ages.

What a clever girl is my Lisa.

We just threw Biff's tablets (he had to take 3 together) in with his kibble. The greedy slob just gobbled them down He doesn't even look to see what he is eating!

When Harry was on meds, he quickly caught on and spat the tablets out! We eventually made peanut butter sandwiches for him! A really thick coating of peanut butter, on a bread soldier. That way the tablet stuck to the paste and he couldn't spit it out!

Tuff does the same thing. No matter what I try to hide those meds in.. sausage, hot dogs, beef.. he carefully picks at the meat b/c he knows there's a non-food item in there! The ONLY thing that has worked flawlessly that I have recently tried, is peanut butter. I get him the kind with chunks of peanuts in it and he gives me no trouble at all. Maybe try some PB with your pooch?

Yup, i have to use peanut butter too. I ask if they want some medicine, and they come and sit, or follow me to the pantry to get the PB. I get probably a tablespoon full, push the pill in the middle, and try my bestest to get it in their mouth before they lick it off my finger!! Then i let them lick the spoon, so it's more of a treat.

btw, my mom's sheltie is bad about spitting pills out! they've tried everything, and that boy will hold it in his mouth, while chewing whatever food they hid it in, then spit it out! they've tried string cheese, meat, peanut butter, EVERYTHING!! good thing he doesn't get sick, i guess.

Grumpy is exactly the same way! She has to take benedryl this time of year for her allergies... she thinks it's a great game! She's gotten so good at it that no matter what I hide the pill in, she'll roll it around her mouth, poke it with her tongue, and spit out the benedryl. Usually gets herself 4 or 5 treats per pill this way :o

Darlin's the same way. She takes pills about twice a week for her allergies and there's no fooling her!

The vet showed me how to put the tablet way back in the back of her throat and then massage her throat until she swallows it and that's how we do it now. She gets a treat AFTER and I get some very slobbery fingers!

Gee, I must be lucky. Chance will eat anything I give him wether it be medicine or treats, he just gobbles em right up It really amazes my boyfriend the way Chance just takes them. But if he was picky about his pills, you guys sure do have some tricky methods

I had to melt the tapeworm tabs in warm water and buy alpho and mix them in the gravy .....thought I was never gonna get over on her !!!!
thank God it worked and the worms are gone LOL so is all the alpho !!!
Its bad when your dog is smarter that you !!!!!!

Zeb is such a pig he just eats his when he's been on them but Lola is a monkey, she manages to spit the tablet out and eat whatever we've hid them in. If I mould cheese around them though it's fine
