The trick with the Peanut butter is to get a whole lot on the spoon, put the pill on the very top and scrape that off into the mouth, while holding the spoon with the rest of the PB in front of their mouth. They will quickly swallow whatever is in their mouth to get more of the "treat" Works like a charm in my house. They are too busy focusing on the PB on the spoon to worry about a pill in the mouth.

We just threw Biff's tablets (he had to take 3 together) in with his kibble. The greedy slob just gobbled them down He doesn't even look to see what he is eating!

We tried that with Moab and every time we did, he'd throw up within 5 minutes of eating. Smothering it in peanut butter was the best!

When he had an eye infection, he was a perfect angel though. He'd let me put a goopy ointment on his eyeball, close his eyelids and smear it around with no fuss or squirming! Of course, this was all followed by lavish praise and yummy treats!

There is no way I am having peanut butter in my house, my kids have never tried it and I know how additive it can be as I use to love the stuff. I´ll stick to the sausages with Lisa and maybe some cheese.

Chich was on antibiotics all his life as he was born with ciliary dyskenisia and was prone to pneumonia. He also had terrible allergies. At one stage he was on 14 tablets morning and night (he also had some other things going on at that time). Needless to say he was sick of taking tablets and would often spit them out. As mentioned by others, it is amazing how they manage to separate the pill from the food. Most of the time he ate them with his food but when he didn't it broke my heart having to force all of these pills down his throat. My poor baby is now waiting at the bridge...

Whenever it comes time for ABBY to take any type of oral medication or even her monthly heartworm tablet, it's a never ending battle. I've tried the peanut butter thing, the hiding it in cheese trick, and every other thing that I can think of, but now she knows that there is something up and will just take a sniff of it and then refuse to take it. Usually, in the end, I have to force her mouth open and put it in her throat and then make her swallow.

This thread has me laughing! Chief and Sam do the same thing! We used to stick their pills in chicken or something we thought would be yummy! They would always pull the same trick~ spitting the pill out so they could get more of that delicious meat! Finally.... what worked??? Peanut butter! They weren't able to separate the pill from the yummy goopy stuff!!!! Gotta love the PB!
