Last week our 2 year old female boxer had a seizure. It was our first and only seizure. She had not been doing anything out of the ordinary, we had just gotten back from our 30 minute daily walk, and the seizure happened. She was unable to move for about 10-15 minutes. My husband took her to the vet, and they checked her out, and told us sometimes dogs have them, it's nothing to worry about. She is going back in tomorrow for a check up, and has not another since. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

Our boxer had 4 seizure in his life, we never knew why and it never caused any problems. But its definetly something to keep an eye on, if she continues to have them on a regular basis medication would be required, but like our boxer it could be years before it happens again or it may never happen again. One thing our vet did say to us was to make sure when he was left alone that he did not have access to the stairs in case he was to have a seizure while we were out and fell down the stairs, so if she is not crated just limit her access to your house when you are not home.

I hope this helps

Seizures in Boxer

Our 8 year old boxer was healthy, one night he had a seizure while laying on the couch, he lost his bladder, we ran him into the vet right away, it last about 15 minutes. The vet gave us phenabarbatol. We gave him his first pill the next morning. I went home to check on him at lunch and he was dead in our back yard. I was so angry at our vet. Now we have another boxer who is now 2 years old. He is fixed. And he has been dribbling which the vet says is incontinence. He also had a bacterial infection which was treated with Baytril and the bacteria is now gone but he has a few more days to go on the Baytril. He has been on proin for almost 8 weeks. We have increased his dosage from 75 mg a day to 100mg and it didn't help. Now the vet is increasing it from 100mg a day to 150mg. I am so scared and worried all the time because of what happened to our other boxer. Does it hurt to have him on Baytril and Proin at the same time? The vet said it doesn't. He trembles alot in his sleep, jerking kind of. I don't know if he is just sleeping very deep or if it is the medication. When we increased the Proin last night, he was very very restless, I was afraid he was going to have a heart attack. He would sleep on the bed for 15 minutes then on the floor and just back and forth. He has had a Bladder Sonogram and several blood tests and nothing shows up. Please give me some hope. Thanks

I would suggest have some blood tests done. Tyson just had his second one ever on Monday and it was after he got real excited. I got the results a couple of days ago and it has to do with his thyroid. I am talking it over with my other vet to see what she thinks I should do. I hope everything is ok. If you check my previous posts you can see the whole story.
