Seizure vs. Boxer Cardiomyopathy?

Ask the cardiologist if the 3 second pause occurred while Bentley was asleep. We were told it was not uncommon and normal. All in all great news, I'd say. I'm not exactly surprised as your description of his collapse was so different from what I experienced with my boy before he was diagnosed. If they did not detect a murmur at all, I would doubt that aortic stenosis could be the problem.

Of course, you still don't know why he collapsed and kicked his legs. Strange. I can think of other reasons for becoming dizzy and passing out briefly (vasovagal syncope, low blood sugar, low blood pressure from the cold) but the kicking part I have no clue.

Have you had an ultra sound done yet?
That would be my next course of action.
Just playing devil's advocate here.

There was a 3 second pause. While that may be within "normal limits" it could still be a cause for concern. Hopefully your cardio will be able to fill you in about that. It is great news that there were no VPC's!! I would be doing cartwheels!! I might land on my head but I would still try. :)

On the flip side you have tested the electrical part of the heart but there is still the "plumping" that needs to be checked. That is where the ultra sound would come into play. Other heart issues could cause collapse.

Not trying to give you a hard time or make you feel bad but I know you still want answers.

haha, no worries! An echo is something I would still like to get done. But, it's something I will decide on once I've talked to the Cardio. I do want to see how much of a concern if at all the 3 sec pause is. And I'll have to talk DH into spending more money...But at least I can breathe a sigh of relief! And....Bentley will be happy also, since I'm not going to be holding him back anymore! Though, we won't be forcing him to run anymore. (which is what we were doing when the collapse happened) Just going to let him do what he is comfortable with.

Our 6 yr old girl has seizure/fainting problems too...we've taken her to NC State Vet School had her whole body including her heart monitored and checked every which way possible...after spending about $1100 no known problems were found....she has probably had 10 or 12 in her life and after a few quiet minutes she is her old self again...she can be in a full gallop and suddenly faint...she has even fainted while coming down our stairs...one thing I have noticed is that her episodes are usually brought on by being alerted and getting real excited just after relaxing....she was laying on our back porch resting and suddenly a deer came running thru our yard. She raced after the deer really fast and fainted in about 200 ft from where she started....we've learned to live with her problem and lover her toooooo much.

Our boy Zeus had 3 fainting/seizure eppisodes in his life. We had blood work done and did about everything besides the 24 hour ekg. Today I wish I had done the EKG and am second guessing everthing while grieving.

We took our normal walk and chased some geese (our normal routine) and upon taking a break and watching the geese on the frozen pond, Zeus collapsed without warning. I had my cell phone with me and called my wife to pick us up. She put the other boxer in the truck while I tried giving our boy CPR. When we got to the vet 10 mins later it was too late for the doctor to do anything. Prior to the walk he seemed normal, excited for his daily walk and very ethusiastic. He was even whining at me to quicklyl finsih my breakfast so we could get going.

Today is a tough day and there are reminders of him everywhere I look. His brother keeps looking for him and I don't think his loss has fully sunk in.

If you think there is any chance of cardiomyopathy, get every test done. Tonight our couch has feels empty..
