Seeking opinions on breeder

So, still waiting on our white male pup. Everything happens for a reason, guess this time it just wasn't meant to be, at least I won't have to do any potty training in the dead of winter!

That's too bad.. but at least you are able to look on the bright side!!! Your little pup is just waiting to be born somewhere.... he'll be with you soon enough!

After getting to speak with her at length I found out that she doesn't do all of the health testing that I would prefer. She said that she is being mentored by the Heart Acres kennel owners here in Ohio, and that they suggest that males be the most tested as they are the ones producing the majority of the litters vs the females. I don't agree with this.

This is something I call "name dropping". Instead of telling you how they do their breedings, they are name dropping someone who, may or may not, have said this as a way to vindicate themselves against scrutiny.

Beware of name droppers. They tend to not have all their legs under them to stand on and therefore try to gain credibility from the hardwork of others. And oftentimes they lie about these associations.

Quick story - a few years ago I received a phone call from a show breeder back east. They had been in contact with a woman who wanted a show bitch. There were red flags about her and they were going to turn her down until she named dropped a reputable breeder: ME! She claimed she used to live near me and we were friends. The breeder thought she must be a good person if they were using me as a recommendation.

Thank goodness they called me. The only contact I had ever had with the woman was when she inquired into a litter I had had 3 months earlier. I had never met her before and still have not met to this day. I told the breeder exactly this. I then emailed the woman and asked she not use me a reference because I would simply have to tell the truth and explain I don't know who she is. She called me on the phone, professing her innocence. She said she never told the breeder such a thing.

Now, let's be real. Why would a respected show breeder lie to me over a potential puppy buyer all the way across the country? A buyer that just happened to have inquired on my litter? The answer: They would not have lied. This woman thought that distance made her safe with her own lying.

And your earlier thoughts about health testing on bitches is right. Females should be health tested just as much as the males. It is up to each breeder to make their decisions. But speaking as someone who breeds her females and has had a Champion male up for public stud, I can tell you I feel very strongly about this. Both girls in my house have been fully health tested. Even Crystal who is not a Champion.

This doesn't make any sense at all. Half the DNA comes from the bitch. Why wouldn't you absolutely want to make sure she is as healthy as possible? Otherwise, you just have a DNA crapshoot on the dam's side.

My thoughts also. When she said that there was a lull in the conversation. And, seeing how my girl is a descendent from the Heart Acres line and I have talked with them and have done research on their line I really don't believe that they would have told her that.
Also, during the conversation it came out that this lady has sold pups to the BYB that I got Cami from.....we both agreed how deplorable those conditions were and yet she still sells this lady pups.
She did pass my name along to another breeder who did have a litter that produced 2 white males, we talked and I just decided to not go that route.
