You and your family will also be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I know how your heart must be breaking to watch Riggo have to deal with all of this. Stay strong and know that we are here supporting you.

Riggo is feeling much better. He had the Adriamycin/DTC last week and for the first time on chemo was really out of it for a few days. He seems to be back to his playful self. The lymph nodes on the left side of his neck are down significantly about 90%. The nodes on his right side however only got reduced about a 1/3rd. I am disappointed a little that it didn't completely knock them out. My oncologist is going to do a follow-up maintenance drug but Riggo wasn't ready Friday, I think his counts were a little low. This new med apparentally really wallops their white blood cell counts. Hopefully she can give it to him this coming Friday. I really am crossing my fingers that we don't lose any ground waiting a week. They were so big before I really thought I was putting him down. Pray that they remain stable for a couple of days.

I switched him to the Hills cancer diet. I hope it isn't too little too late because he really likes it. Just about licks a hole in the bottom of the bowl each time I feed him.

I think it's time. Riggo has come out of remission for a 2nd time and is feeling bad. He has been up and down for a couple of days being lethargic in the morning and having a burst of energy in the afternoon playing with his ball for around 20-25 minutes. Today however he only fetched it twice before he was too tired anymore. He wouldn't eat a thing. His left lymph node is starting to come up again and he's had diarhea for almost 2 weeks. He has a scheduled appointment with his oncologist tomorrow morning but I'm debating not going and scheduling him to be euthanized at my local vet tomorrow evening.

In my Thoughts...

I'm sorry RiggoD. It's SO, SO hard. You've both been through so much. Just know that you've done everything that you can for him. Give him lots of loving and take care of yourself too. Hang in there.

Well I met with his oncologist yesterday and we had a lengthy discussion. She said that he was feeling bad because his calcium levels were high and asked to check his bone marrow. If that was bad again she said that we would talk about 'alternatives' to treatment. She said the marrow test results showed that yes his marrow was active again with some cancer cells but that it wasn't really bad yet. She discussed a treatment plan of Cytosar and Doxyrubin. I then asked her about his veins as my local vet told me they were in bad shape and if they were I wasn't going to go forward. She told me they had no trouble at all with his veins. She also said she would treat him at cost. She is keeping him for a couple of days for slow IV infusions as I am having surgery myself. I hope he's feeling better when I pick him up Sunday or Monday. Again thanks for all your kind words.
