My 5 yr 11 month old male boxer named Riggo was just diagnosed with Leukemia.

His symptoms started about 6 weeks ago with a loss in appetite. He started eating only about 1/2 his usual amount of food. I tried changing his food twice and making it more enticing with bullion, gravy etc. I then took him to the vet. They ran x-rays and blood work and said that his white blood cell count was low. After 2 weeks of medication to raise the white blood cell count it was still low. We did more x-rays and over the weekend a bone marrow biopsy. I got the bad news yesterday. He has been lethargic and anything but the boundful mass of energy and enthusiasm he was just 2 months ago.

The information I've been able to get so far has been anything but encouraging. Some inspirational stories would be great to hear about now. Also if anyone has any good web sites I would love to hear about them.

I know I'm new to this board but would love to hear from some fellow boxer owners.

So sorry to hear about Riggo... I don't have any info for you, but you will be in our thoughts. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Sorry

I'm sorry to hear the bad news. We lost our 3 year old to lymphoma last week, so I know the thoughts that must be swirling through your mind right now after a shocking diagnosis like this. I'm sure other owners have a wealth of information to share with you regarding treatments, so the only advice I'll give is to enjoy every second you have with Riggo. Here's wishing you the best and sorry for what you're dealing with. I hope you find a way to help him.
