Heck yah we are!! Thank you soo much for sticking by him. I can't tell you what a reward it is for me to see Kaiser everyday. I know that everyday I have with him truly is a blessing and I applaud you for taking on a challenge of this magnitude. It's hard, it's heartbreaking, it's frustrating, it's maddening - but in the end, it's more than worth the sacrifice you put into it.

Good for you! The more you learn, the easier it will become to understand his behavior and curb/change it. You DO have it in you, and you're a SAINT for trying to save Joe. Keep us posted -- we're all rooting for you both!

So sorry

It is with great sadness I leave this post. After a near-miss with a child while on a walk. After clearly stating please do not approach me or the Dog, he bites announced loudly and someone's 'Bebe's Kid' fascinated and approaching rapidly while i'm pulling an upset and uncontrollable Joe BEHIND me and YELLING at this boy to move away, I realized what a dangerous situation I have on my hands and am 100% unprepared to deal with it. It was only a matter of time before someone got bit and I'd be in big trouble.

Joe and i wen't to our veterinarian last Tuesday and he had his final appointment. I had been in close contact with the veterinarian through getting him back to health and he went home quietly with his favorite bone and squishy, on his bed at the vet's.

Thank you for your advice. I wish there could've been a better solution. I don't think I will be rescueing from a shelter ever again. I will look to a breeder, this has been really, really hard and I am tormented by feelings of frustration, guilt, sadness, loneliness. He's not there to say hello so happily after I've had a horrid day at work, he's not there to say goodnight and goodmorning, to watch TV with, to go for our morning walks. I loved our morning walks, the one time of day the city is actually quiet and there are BUNNIES in the empty lots.

Joe will be missed, he made an impression in my heart and will never be forgotten.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. :( My thoughts are definitley with you. You said you'd never rescue from a shelter again, but I wish you'd reconsider. It's a shame what happened. My dad long ago rescued a dog from a shelter and the dog ended up biting him in the face (for seriously no valid reason), we adopted another and she was the best dog ever. :) You definitley went through a lot, I hope you pain heals quickly and that sometime in the near future, you'll give another rescue a chance. We're hear for you. :)
