I am in a lot of pain today. I was hoping that I would never have to post in the Rainbow Bridge section, but today I find the need to speak for Samson.

Samson woke up a little flustered this morning. I feel it was because we ran into a cat in the dark last night as I took him out the last time on his leash. Today I think he was excited to get back outside and see if that cat was still there. It was there and I had forgotten about it. After struggling for a few minutes I got Samson to settle down. Then he saw one of our chickens and he got excited again. I put him on a lead and went into the house for a few minutes. I pulled laundry from the washer, went to hang it on the line, and to bring Samson back in for his breakfast and he was gone. Just like that. He was laying on his side as if he died in peace. We tried to revive him and it did no good.

We have had no health problems with our boxers. My dogs come first. I can be so tired, too tired to move, but they come first. We play, we laugh, we have a good time.

I cannot stop crying. We are just in shock. We decided to not send him for an autopsy. He is buried in a beautiful spot right above the pond and we will mark it with a cement pad and a bench.

I just cannot stop crying. They go so fast. He was big, healthy, and a nut.

I have his son left to spoil, Spike, one year old, and that is what I plan to do. But nothing will ever replace my squishy mouth Samson.

I would love to hear from others, but I would also love to hear if you have had similar experiences. It is a shock. I know it will get better but it just does not make sense.

We are so sorry to hear about your baby Samson.

Lennox is our first boxer boy and so I can not relate to your experience, however, I was touched by your story. It does seem strange but I think it's great that you at least have his son to help you deal with the pain.

Lennox and I are sending lot's of boxer hugs to you and your family.

Samson is in a good place and I'm sure he's sending you lots of slobbery boxer kisses.

All the best!

I am terribly sorry to hear of the loss of your Samson. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time. Know that Samson had a good life with you and is now playing at the bridge with all of his new friends. I send you lots of (((HUGS)))

I did not loose a Boxer but we had a Maltese who was loved tremendously. I was approx. 6 months pregnant and it was the week after Tropical Storm Allison devastated Houston TX which is where I'm from and where I'm moving back to tom. Anyway, one week after the flood our car flooded in a brief rain shower. I was so upset and all day Duke(our dog) was following me around. He was my best buddie and he knew I was really upset. Everywhere I went there he was even more so than normal. He went to to the bridge the next morning and then my real devastation kicked in. He was found laying peacfully under my fathers desk. They buried him before they told me . They were afraid it would be too hard on me which made me even more upset. I - like you couldn't stop the tears from flooding my cheeks. I was bringing a new life into the world yet I had just lost a peice of me heart. You are in my prayers. My advice to you is .... cry... cry some more. Just let it come. It is all a part of the healing process and know that you have a support system here on Boxerworld which is a blessing. I wasn't so lucky when Duke passed.

Thank you so very much. I am living in "waves" today. I cry and then I do okay. I know this is a normal process but it doesn't help right now.

I just keep thinking, "Not my big boy Samson." I want to hear him jump over the baby gates one more time! I want to hear his nails clicking on my hard wood floors!!! I want to see him pearing out the window as I go to the mail box.

I just do not know how I am going to fill this huge hole, but I will.

I have done a little light research today. Samson likely died instantly due to his hearth malfuntioning. I am too much pain to read very much on this topic today, and I do not know if I ever will be able to do it again. I did read that this type of condition, often with no warning or symptoms, can take the boxer instantly and often within their first 2-3 years.

I know this much, I loved that wonderful fellow. I want to squeeze his squishy lips and be slobbered by him again. I want to feed him peaches and tomatoes, or whatever he wants, because he was the spoiled one in the house.

Thank you everyone. I will continue to come here and speak openly. I knew that I could. I just need to get this out and hopefully stop crying soon. I physically hurt right now.

I have read many stories on Boxerworld. Many have made me cry, real tears. Many have made me laugh, out loud. But I never dreamed that I would be sitting here looking through streams of tears writing my own sad story. The hurt is beyond comprehension right now.

Thank you so much for your comforting words. I am sure Samson would be proud.
