Completely Boxer Crazy
I am in a lot of pain today. I was hoping that I would never have to post in the Rainbow Bridge section, but today I find the need to speak for Samson.
Samson woke up a little flustered this morning. I feel it was because we ran into a cat in the dark last night as I took him out the last time on his leash. Today I think he was excited to get back outside and see if that cat was still there. It was there and I had forgotten about it. After struggling for a few minutes I got Samson to settle down. Then he saw one of our chickens and he got excited again. I put him on a lead and went into the house for a few minutes. I pulled laundry from the washer, went to hang it on the line, and to bring Samson back in for his breakfast and he was gone. Just like that. He was laying on his side as if he died in peace. We tried to revive him and it did no good.
We have had no health problems with our boxers. My dogs come first. I can be so tired, too tired to move, but they come first. We play, we laugh, we have a good time.
I cannot stop crying. We are just in shock. We decided to not send him for an autopsy. He is buried in a beautiful spot right above the pond and we will mark it with a cement pad and a bench.
I just cannot stop crying. They go so fast. He was big, healthy, and a nut.
I have his son left to spoil, Spike, one year old, and that is what I plan to do. But nothing will ever replace my squishy mouth Samson.
I would love to hear from others, but I would also love to hear if you have had similar experiences. It is a shock. I know it will get better but it just does not make sense.
