Boxer Pal
My husband and I got our first boxer, Tiger, almost a month ago. She wasn't as healthy as she should be, but we thought we could help her out. For 2 1/2 weeks we babied her, took her to the vet, and gave her all of the 4 different medications she was put on. A few days after she was done with all of her medications, and seemed to be doing well, we switched to an organic dog food. Tiger gobbled it up in record time. But the next day she was lethargic and not eating at all. I thought it was because I didn't change the food slowly. After two days of not eating and diarrhea, I started trying to force feed her. Everything I got down, she threw up. I called my vet, but it was a Sat. and they don't have an emergency #. I waited until Sun. morning and contacted a different vet because she had started vomiting and she wouldn't even drink water now. We drove to the vets office, an hour away, and did a parvo test, it was positive. Now all we can do is wait and pray, hoping she will recover. We had found a reputable breeder and made arrangements to buy another puppy so Tiger had a playmate, but the vet said to bring a puppy into our home and yard could very likely be a death sentence for the puppy. Even vaccinated puppies get parvo here all the time. So it has been a rough weekend.
The new breeder we had contacted was so concerned for our Tiger, and so gracious when we told her about what the vet said. Talking with her, I was so impressed by her kindness and knew she was truly a good boxer owner. It is nice to know you can find good people who really take care of their dogs, and want homes for their puppies that will do the same. This is definitely a hard lesson learned!

My girl is recovering from pancreatitis right now so I know how stressful it can be to see your baby so sick. Sending lots of healing vibes and prayers that Tiger gets better soon!

Poor baby, I send healing vibes to tiger! I'm glad the breeder was understanding. Ask your vet, but I think the parvo virus can hang around and be infectious for up to a year, so be super careful bringing any fur-babies over. I sure hope tiger gets better soon!
