Routine for leaving your Boxer home alone....

Stormie has been an angel for the most part. If I remember, I try to put the baby gate across the sofa, because she isn't allowed up there. I try to tuck my hubbies work boots under the bed because once she put a tiny hole in the leather lining and they are expensive.
She's never tried to open a door or drawer, she's never tried to get on the counter or anything, so I've been real lucky with her.

If you look in my gallery you'll see that Bailey has also took a shine to the door frames in the house......

Hmmmmmm All the remotes get put out of reach and I'll strap down the lid on the trash can with a bungie cord.

This is because we have already permenately put all the pictures out of reach (they decided the like chewing the frames up), replaced all the leather coasters with glass and metal ones and taken everything off the counters that can be chewed.

Bayleigh has been crate free since May and she has done great! She has only messed with something one time. I put a plant in the HER bay window and she ripped the plant out of the pot. DH said it was blocking her view. Other than that she doesn't mess with anything. She usually saves getting into trouble until we get home.

Before I leave:

Shut bathroom door.
Make sure baby gate is still in stairway.
Open blinds so she can see outside.

HAHA! I was just doing most of those things this morning too! This is the first time I'm leaving him out for more than an hour!! I will be back at lunch to check up. I'm scared! I have been leaving him out of the kitchen at night and no problems so far.

I hide the remotes. Push everything to away from the edge of countertops since Bacon is able to reach it already. Close all bedroom doors especially bathroom since he loves to play with toilet paper. Put pillows on new couch so he won't sleep on it. Make sure plenty of toys are out. Oh and made sure radio was on. Usually I leave KONG out for both of the babies. I also leave the radio on. I would put the tv on but if they hear a dog bark, they go crazy! I'm more apprehensive about having both dogs together since Bacon can get on Maggie's nerves.

I used to make sure blinds are opened for our deceased dog since he would get mad and try to rip them off!! He just wanted to look outside. That's all he asked for.

Well hopefully you get favorable results. I will see at my lunch time what happens with mine! Good luck!

Maybe when Jess gets bigger i might have to do more... shes still too small to do real damage...

Oh, we had to put the hanging towel rack on the bedroom door when we leave because they hung low enough for ther to pull them down... thats about it.

we leave been leaving the terrace door open with the screen closed so she can get some fresh air....

we also leave the radio on!

I just got back from 8 this morning, Mercedes was out for 4 hours nothing was chewed. But I worry because I quietly snuck up to my house and when I opened the door she was still laying in front of it. I bet she was there for the whole 4hrs or close to it. Atleast she doesn't chew anything but I want her to be able to relax play with a toy or atleast sleep on her bed or the couch not right in front of the door. any tips, or just more practice? also should I treat when I get back and nothing is destroyed or should I ignore her for the first 5 mins then treat? or just not treat and never make a big deal about it at all. thanks

Brutus is still being caged. I am not sure what would happen if we left him out. Sometimes he seems like a 63 pound freight train in our home. He is getting alot better with his seperation anxiety so we are going to start trying to leave him in the kitchen for an hour or so. Right now, he gets a cookie in his cage when we go to work and we leave the TV on for him in the bedroom.
