This is definitely a case for shock collars if I've EVER heard one...

Put them on all your husbands buddies...when they try to mess with the animals, hit the button. :D :D

I agree 100%!!!!!

Poor little Rocky!

To be fair, if it was my dog, I would feel partly responsible though. Clearly the man meant no harm, and clearly Rocky just wanted to protect his family. My personal opinion would be that if he is asking for money, I might split his hospital bill with him. But that's just me. Just see how things go.

I find it funny that with boxers, 99% of all aggression seems to occur with them trying to protect their family. I hope everyone recovers well, especially our furry friends.

Have a happy new year despite this

The new year is not turning out so bad...
Eddie my husband was very upset at this guy. Coco is a kitten still and could not have scratched as she wears soft paws rubber nail covers. After this guy left all the others agreed he is not too bright. Side note, there is a cat that has been hanging out at their lot for at least 12 yrs (my husband is a finance manager for a large car lot) and she is very old. All the guys pitch in for her food and vet care. Well this guy did have an incident with Miss Pussy (sorry for the name, a bunch of guys in a car lot, go figure) and she scratched the heck out his arm. No one is sure what happened, but he did "joke" around and say he should have kicked that cat and another guy told him that is just stupid, she is only a cat.

He called to apologize and today he gave a bag of smoked pig ears and a cat toy for his behavior to my husband at work. My husband said IF this guy asked he would pay 1/2 the bill, but only if he asked...he has not mentioned it. The ER was told it was a dog bite and we recieved a call asking if the dog was up to date on shots. My vet faxed over a copy of Rocky's shot record and all is well on that end. I don't think there is any follow thru, just insuring the dog does not have rabies. It looks like this guy is just mainly embarrassed because the owner of the lot, all the managers were at my house and he is hopeful for a promotion. The owner by the way is a HUGE cat lover and does not really care for dogs, but said any dog that would protect a cat like that is OK in his book. He actually let Rocky lick his face! He was not impressed (he was the guy holding Coco after the incident). Eddie did say this guys hand looked gross, very bruised (he was chuckling when he said it). I will keep you guys posted if anything else happens.

I just knew you guys would agree that Rocky is a hero!

By the way these poker games have been happening for many years and I have never had an incident with my pets and our guest before.

Glad everything worked out well Dora! Sounds like we don't need to pick on dimbulb (oops... ok, one last time... :D ) He already has a bruised ego and a hole in his hand!

Dora, I don't think you will ever hear another word about Rocky biting this man, he knows what he did was wrong & his fault. He was a guest in your home & acted stupid.Rocky is a hero in my eyes, protecting what is his, this is his pack! Had it been at my house the dog would not have had a chance to bite him, I would have & then ask him to leave my home. Sorry, this is how your New Year started, but I bet it will turn out to be a great year for you & your family!LOL, Hanley

Oops sorry about my earlier post...I was confused about the situation.
I didn't mean to offend.

Well, he may not be that dim-witted after all... I mean, the guy has 6 stitches on his hand, and yet he went to the petstore and got a bag of treats for the dog that put those stitches in his hand... I think that is very sweet :) Also the cat toy as a way of apologizing to Coco for his behavior.

The guy could've been a real ***hole (even though it was his fault), but instead he took the high road. He must be ok after all.

Glad to hear things seem to be settling down! Best wishes to you, and Rocky is a sweetie. Scrapper might have tried to help if someone was trying to swirl Roscoe around! ("Here, I'll help turn 'em...")

Yeh, if this guy has been scratched before by another cat..it shows that animals are not ok with him, don't you agree? Perhaps something is wrong with him? Not that it is anyones business or anything. Animals are VERY sensitive to people though and when they suspect something wrong, they can freak out. A dog I know, is very sensitive to people on medication for depression and would freak out and start barking at them. I know, I know..everything is ok now, but still. Good for Rocky, the protector he is:)

Keep it up there big boy! Protect your kittie friends and your family too:)

No offense taken...I could easily see how poker game +guys +alcohol= trouble for pets. This is the main reason Mia the boston & Lola Kitty go with me when the men arrive, they are not very sociable, Mia growls & snaps, and Lola just gets nervous. The guys love Rocky and always ask for him (they always make comments about his wiggling butt, kidney beans), and Coco is new and very people friendly. Ages range from 30-50 all of the ones I know as regulars are parents and have dogs & cats and we have just never had any problems. I see now when people we don't know come I will have to be more diligent with supervision...at least put the cats up with me. I don't think anyone would want to swirl Rocky on the floor.

Come on Genie, surely Scrapper would be more helpful than just helping turning Roscoe! Then again I did see that pic of him laughing while poor Miss Holly had her leg bandaged up!
