My family & I had a beautiful, rambunctious brindle boxer named Atria. She pieced our family together. There were no signs of any heart problems, ever. She went to the vert regualry & she did have allergies which we had to give her a allery shot every 3 weeks & clean her ears with special cleaner & ointment but thats it. 1 month before she was going to be 6 years old I came home from work & she was her normal self a stuffed animal in her mouth wiggling her nub ready to play. She went pee pee outside & ate her dinner, she went in the bedroom & I got on the phone for abut an hour. I was playing with my 4 year old on the floor pretending to be a dog & this always prompted Atria coming running to us wherever she was. This day she didn't -- I went in the bedroom & saw my "special Angel" sleeping on her pillow by our bed. I went to wake her & I couldn't -- she passed away, just like that. We are assuming it was her heart for that to happen so quickly but I am heart broken and I just want to know if this is common. My Atria was only going to be 6 years old on January 14, 2008.

robinatria I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe you could talk to your vet and inquire about what could have caused her to pass away so suddenly. If it helps at all, it may be conforting to know that she went to sleep with little or no pain. On 12/5 we lost our Memphis suddenly to cancer. He was only 1 year and 9 months. It was totally unexpected and I am heartbroken. I understand exactly what you are going through. Just know that Atria is now at the bridge running free and watching over you.

She misses you greatly and will be your "forever dog" and an angel to guide you through life.

BW has really been a place of comfort for me since we lost our "forever dog"

Just know you are comforted here and we all send great vibes your way.

I pray that you find the answers you are looking for in regards to finding out the cause for your loss of atria.

Be safe and you are in my prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby girl. There is nothing that can make the pain less. It sounds like she had a beautiful life while she was here on earth, thanks to you and your family. Take comfort in knowing that you made her happy. angelicon

I will agree BW is the place to be when you are concerned, or just want someone to listen to your story and atleast feel a little of your pain. It makes it easier. I couldn't put into words how sad I was for my Guinness while he was sick. It looks as though he is on his road to recovery, but I watch him like a HAWK! I am sorry for your loss!

Sorry to hear about your loss

Boxers are amazing animals and the attachment they to their family is amazing especially children. This is what makes their passing so hard. I am truly sorry to hear of the passing. Hang in there.

Robin, I am so sorry that you lost your precious Atria. From your description, I think she must have been such a fun, playful, and loving Boxer. She spent her last day at home with her family doing things she enjoyed. Run and play at the bridge, lovely angelicon Atria.

Sorry for your loss

Welcome to BW--we all extend our welcome. I'm sorry to hear of your loss--I have tears in my eyes--at least it was peaceful. It is VERY hard to lose a pet so suddenly. I lost my 10 yr old boxer Leggs to cancer 2 yrs ago & we never knew. The vet saw the tumor located between the pancreas & liver w/ an ultrasound-but it was way to late-I actually had to rush to the vet to say goodbye. It is very hard--but you will always keep her in your heart--see I made myself actually cry because it is so sad. Sorry--just meandering in my memories of her. After her passing--we got a cat & you know what-I'm telling you he is Leggs reincarnated. He thinks he's a dog!!! Go figure. We now have another Boxer-Tessa--let me tell you-she's a pistol. But always think of the good times & smile & over time--you know you will get another. We're all here for support--
