Riley is on his way to the Bridge tonight

I know firsthand how difficult it was for you to help Riley cross over, but your vet was so right, it is something that we must do for our beloved companions - although painful, it truely is the greatest gift. As I sit here crying, I remember so vividly the feeling inside when I had to come to grips with having to put Tomi to sleep. It is the worst feeling and no one can make you feel better. You have to say goodbye to your best friend and it seems so surreal. There are NO WORDS that anyone of us can say to you, except we are sorry. I know in time, the pain becomes less painful and life becomes bright again. Right now, it is hard and I am soooo sorry you have to feel this way. I am sure he was the best boy in the world
He is painfree and happy now, as hard as it may be to say goodbye. He will always remain with you and you, with him.
I will light a candle in his honor tonight.

I dont know why i come to this forum...it always makes me hurt for my Sheba. But then I realize that every dog that is spoken about is in no more pain, including my old girl. ANd that they are all playing together at the bridge..not one of them is lonley and in pain and they are all watching over us as our true guardian angels, waiting for the moment we will be reunited, and saving us from the time that it may come too soon.

God speed Riley and youll meet again sometime, until then have fun being a puppy again at the Bridge.

Even though it may hurt now your pain will ease, not totally though, when you realize that you did trulky do the right, unselfish thing and you knwo that Riley appreciates everything you did for him up until the moment his pain was eased.

Its been almost 8 yrs since we had to put Sheba to sleep and the pain is still there, but at the same time the pain helps keep her memory alive and with me.

I'm so sorry to hear of Riley, he put up a good fight. You did what was best for Riley, you showed him the last greatest act of love and kindess that you could. I do know how you feel, it is one of the worst feelings ever. But while the pain subsides - the memories of Riley will always be there, he will be with you forever. Take care dear Riley.

I am so sorry for your loss of Riley. Everytime I see a post like yours it reminds me of that difficult decision that we had to make one time, too. It is never easy . I know how your heart is breaking and the tears feel like they will never stop. Grief is part of the healing process. So take as long as you need. You know that you did everything you could.
