The car

Frasier our two year old loves to go in the car
at weekends we take him in the convertable he has his own seat belt and loves the ride.He rest his head on the back and lets the wind whip his jowls up and I am sure he flirts at every light!!!!!
Dempsey has been in the car many times but I really do not think she is too aware of what is happening

JEB loved the car, once he got a little older! When he was a puppy, he would CRY the whole time! And he would want to sit in my lap, facing me with his paws on my shoulders, while I was driving! Eventually, when I could no longer safely drive with him in my lap (and I've never been the best driver in the world anyway!) I put him in the back seat and from then on, he LOVED to ride in the car! Especially with the windows down, so he could stick his head out and slobber all over the windows and doors! (I've heard that the reason they like to stick their heads out while riding in the car is that they get a "doggy buzz" from all of the scents and smells they experience at once, but I don't know if that's true or not!) Anyhow, on the few occasions he snuck out of the front door of our house, we would just open up the car door and he'd come racing across the yard and jump in the car! Of course, we'd feel guilty for tricking him, so a ride around the neighborhood was his reward!!!

stanley loves the car too! loves to put his head out the window and take it all in...one funny thing...when we are done riding stanley jumps in the back seat and waits for me to open his door like Im his driver or something...refuses to get out of the front door...

Jasper loves the car. He has a seat belt and takes turns laying all over Stephi and then Andrew. When he's big enough he'll lie on both no doubt. Piper was fine in the car on the way home from the breeder. She wasn't sick (which is the best thing), but she did want to sit on my lap. I wasn't driving, so that was cool. Then she slept the whole way. She has a seat belt now too.

Now both of them at the same time will be interesting! We haven't done that yet.

Dempsey absolutely loves to ride in my pick-up. It has an extended cab with a rear sliding window out of which he sticks his head. If I say Dempsey do you want to go for a ride in the truck he kidney beans like mad. I'll get his leash and put it in his mouth and tell him to take it to the door. When we get to the door he's still kidney beaning and it's a real effort to put his leash on.

Marcie hasn't figured out how much fun riding in the truck is yet. She's only had three rides in it so far. Coming home from the breeder and to and from Petsmart the other night. I'm sure that she'll end up loving it too. She has also had a round trip to the vet in my wife's car.

When Clio was much younger she used to escape frequently but we could always get her back home just by following her in the car and opening the door. She would jump right in thinking we must be going to the coffee shack or the bank for a milkbone. Oh, if you could see the look on her face as we pulled back into our very own driveway!

She still likes to go for rides.

Outgrew car sickness

Addie threw up in the car the first night that I brought her home, and on almost any car ride after that for a few months. Fortunately for us, she seems to have outgrown this. We moved to Baltimore last year from Pittsburgh, so we travel back and forth often to visit our families. Addie now lies down in the backseat (wearing her seatbelt) the entire trip.

Nala loves to ride in the car. The minute the keys jingle, she starts to whine. We then go to the car and she waits beside the car while I open the door and window. Then I say "UP" and she clears the window and lands inside. She then takes up her spot at shotgun, unless it's her turn to drive. She just rides along looking ahead in case I should miss an upcoming turn. Sometimes I look over at her and she looks at me with a look that may be the same look, I have on my face. My last boxer used to like to put her paw on my arm and ride along.

I thought all Boxers loved to ride in cars! All three of mine did/do. Jazz goes into spasms of ecstasy when she sees me with my purse or hears my car keys. I drive an Aerostar and open the back door and Mac and Jazz jump in. Jazz has figured out she can jump over the seats and/or crawl UNDER them and stick her head through the front seats and get a drink of MY water sitting in the cup holders. She always sits in the floor so she can stick her head through to be with me. Mac can't crawl under the seats, he is too fat. So far he hasn't figured out he can jump over the seats so he stays in the back.

Tyson always sat in the front passenger seat with almost everyone. A nicer, more polite passenger there never was! He looked and acted so human, sometimes we forgot he was a dog! He was so smart we had to spell words like ride, drive, and cat. It didn't take him too long to figure out what we were spelling so that didn't work too long! He could probably read a map better than I could. He was a joy to have along on trips. I was never afraid to stop at rest areas when he was along. I have attached a picture of him with Michael in Michael's first car.
