I agree great movie. I'm sure there were some mistakes but with a production that big you're bound to let something slip through the cracks. IMO the movie deals more with emotion so little errors like Frodo's finger shouldn't matter. (Maybe Hobbits grow fingers back when they get bit off)

gollum's pupils

Ok, I will not comment on Frodo's finger or Legolas' eyes because honestly, I didn't notice anything, but I will comment on the whole thing about gollum's pupils... you see, the thing about the pupils is they're SUPPOSED to be that way... it's the difference between gollum and smeagol, gollum is the evil one and is depicted with the very small pupils, and smeagol is the pitiful one, depicted with the bigger pupils. In the scene with the reflection on the water it might be difficult to tell who's speaking at what time (gollum or smeagol) because they are both speaking evil things... but again, that's what the pupils are for.

Gordsan, I am very jealous that you got to go to Trilogy Tuesday! That would have been lots of fun.

I have been anticipating the release of this movie for a very long time. I took the day off from work yesterday to go see it. I was a little disappointed to see a few things from the book left out but overall I think it was a fantastic movie and I plan on seeing it at least once more on the big screen. I also really really hope that Peter Jackson gets an oscar nomination for best director. I think its well deserved after doing such a fantastic job on three great movies.

Yes - I agree. The erasure of Tom Bombadil and Goldenberry was what upset me - and the Sam thing (you know what I mean). But can you imagine how long the movie would have been if they were 100% true to the books? I bet the extended version will give more info.

I recieved a gift certificate to the local movie theater this summer and have saved it so all 4 of us can go!

The gollum/Smeagol thing..it's not just the in the eyes: it is his whole demeanor, how he carries himself and his facial expressions too.

AND I have to ask..what "Sam" thing?

I could just see Bombadil and Goldenberry as a couple of aging hippies!

They always take "artistic license" when translating books to movies. What you have to hope is they don't butcher it too bad!!

I was okay with them leaving out Tom Bombadil and Goldenberry but I was really hoping to see the HOH (trying not to spoil things for those who haven't seen it yet or non-readers) in ROTK. But, your right, I bet the EE will be great.

I thought the movie was awesome. I seldom sit through a movie that long without falling asleep. I really enjoyed all three of the films. Sean Astin is one of my favorites, too, and he does a great job!

Hubby and I went to see the movie on Wednesday and both loved it! Jason is a real fan and has read the novels many times and was pleased with the movie (before it was released he kept saying, "I hope they don't mess it up") There were three small boys in the front of us and I thought there is no way they'll be able to stay still for three hours.....they were on the edge of their seats, eyes glued, and no bathroom breaks for the whole movie....that's a testament in itself.
