Skynyrd has been in his new home for a week. His new dad called and asked me if I wanted him back...to which I responded with "Are you serious!?!" Yes, he was kidding. Skynyrd and his older brother are getting along great. His owner didn't realize how much puppy Skynyrd had in him. His other dog is 9 or 10 years old. Skynyrd is 2...maybe 3 tops. Skyn is full steam ahead and his brother is starting to slow down. Regardless, they are a pretty good pair. He sleeps in the bed and is allowed to roam the house when no one's home (much to the dismay of the garbage cans). Skyn has calmed down a lot too. I think its because he wanted a man's attention for so long...used to beg for DH to love him (and DH isn't the dog person..I am). His new dad showers him with tons of affection and I'm sure he loves every second of it.
If you remember, his owner's other dog had recently passed away. Turns out Skynyrd looks so much like that dog that when he's laying in the hallway his owner sometimes calls him by the other dog's name. His fur brother is glad to have company again too. I'm so glad its worked out so well. Now I see how people can foster dogs. Giving them up is extremely hard but it feels so good when you know they have a great home.
On the other hand, my big girl (Aphrodite) seemed a bit depressed after Skynyrd left. She would go in his crate (she hates crates), lay down and look at me like "what did you do with him?" She's coming around. My life and house is so much calmer and peaceful with just two dogs. Maybe I'll "foster" another.
