Hello boxer family,

I just bought a new white boxer puppy named Chip. He is 9.5 weeks old and doing great(other than bronchitis that came from his breeder). I also have a 8 year old boxer named Lola who is great and extremely obedient. I will do anything I can to make these dogs live their life to the fullest, but can't seem to find the RIGHT dog food. My puppy is on Wellness, which has great reviews, but he goes right for my other boxer's Purina pro plan. I want a food that is as good as Wellness for him, but has a more savory taste for his appetite. I also want to switch my older dog, Lola, because Purina is less quality than I am looking for. I have read many posts for this site and see that TOTW is a favorite. Unfortunately, many people recently on ****************************.com have been complaining that their dogs are having abnormal problems over the past month that has not happened before. I understand that TOTW and Diamond are part of the same company and have had a terrible history of recalls/not being responsible to pet owners that had bad experiences.

Can anyone please help me? I have been researching, but seem to find a lot of good and bad with different dog foods. Price is not an issue and simply want a dog food that my dogs will love, and I will love giving to them.

Thank you for any feedback!!

I feed Earthborn. The only other food I would switch back and forth to is Fromm's. Both do very well with all 4 dogs. Both companies do their own manufacturing and are still family owned I believe, and american supplied businesses. Neither have had recalls or any issues will illnesses in their customers. They have the history and quality that I look for when I can't feed raw. I contacted both companies asking questions and really trusted what answers they gave. I spoke to the Pres of Fromm and the product manager at Earthborn was very impressed with how open they were and took the time to explain their manufacturing process without a lot of bs.

The last round of trouble with TOTW, all 4 of my dogs got sick, slowly one at a time, with the last one with a steel stomach got sick. Vet figured it was salmonella based on their symptoms, but since I stopped the food, the bacteria had run it's course through most of the dogs and tests couldn't be acurate. I listened to my gut and got them off that food pronto! They all were back to normal within a week. That's when I knew their denials of any complaints or issues was a smoke screen! I complained 3 times with emails and phone calls. 4 others I know contacted them too. Lie to me once and you will never get another chance, especially when it comes to the health of my dogs!

Thanks for posting this. I too have been feeding TOTW due to all of the positive reviews on this site. My boxer has had none stop skin issues and I'm starting to think I should switch foods. I have fed earthborn with my previous boxer but he never had hard stools with it.

Arcana is a good one and so is Orijens... both made by Champion. (my personal choice is the 6 fish Orijens)

I've used Blue Buffalo too.. the Salmon formula with success.

You could also go with a RAW diet...

If yu want the quality of the RAW and simplesity of bagged food you may want to try the Orijen's Freeze Dried dog food... which gives you the raw food quality in a pre balanced formula of meat and veggies combined with the covience of a bag; however, WOW is it expensive! My little girl LOVES the stuff, but I only use it 1 day per week to change things up and keep her interest.

Was on TOTW before also - until the first rumors of trouble. Switched to a number of brands including Acana and Orijen. Neither my girl or boy did well on them. They've both been doing amazing on "NOW! Grain Free".

I've been using Fromm's large puppy food - and had no problems. (then again, I feed mostly homemade food with only a small portion of kibble so it's not quite as much of a concern - only using the kibble to give her some crunch and make sure she gets the vitamins).

My very personal opinion on all stage food: don't like it. I have no scientific basis for that opinion whatsoever. But common sense tells me that different stages of life have different dietary needs - whether it's for people or dogs or cats for that matter. That said - if you're feeding an all stage food and supplementing it with different things at different life stages, maybe that's ok. I've just gotta trust that the formulations are different for puppies and it isn't ALL marketing scam...

Wellness is an excellent food. Why not keep the puppy on it and just separate them so he doesn't go for the other one's food? Better yet, you could put both of them on Wellness.

Can you tell I'm a fan of this food?! I love it and have both my 7 year old and my 1 year old on it. More important to me is that they love it and their coats look great.
