My LuLu all of a sudden has really bad breath. Can't see anything in her mouth that would cause it. She is almost 7. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Have you had the vet check her for periodontal disease?..Sometimes an abscess can be present that you can't see, and that in turn could cause bad breath too. A good cleaning and scaling from the vet can do wonders, or she may need a course of antibiotics if there is any infection..Diet or stomach trouble can cause stinky breath too. If it dosent clear up in a day or so, best to get it checked out...Get well soon Lulu.

Bad Breath...

Aren't Boxers generally known for having bad breath? I know all the Boxers I've owned have had less then perfume like breath.

Clavin is four and sometimes his breath can knock over a two ton man. The vet just checked his teeth and gums and said everything looked good with no tarter whatsoever.

We just write if off to Boxer breath but obviously it could be something that does indeed need to be checked out.

Layla is 11 months now and does not have bad breath. When we brought her home from the rescue she did have the sour breath but we chalked that up to the fact she was sick.

Cyrus had horrible breath so we took him to the vet. She found a bad tooth-one that was impacted and infected. After she removed it everything was much better. He even seems to enjoy chewing again.

NO! They shouldn't have bad breath unless it is in direct relation to something they have just eaten or a medical issue.

Went to the vet today for exam and preop blood work. One of the back teeth looked pretty bad so it's a cleaning first thing in the a.m. And further inspection of her dental health while she's under. I feel like a bad boxer parent for not having noticed in sooner.

Don't feel bad. Our pups are good at hiding their discomfort, if there was any, and if Lulu is anything like Thor, I can see how you missed it. It would be easier to get into Ft Knox then his mouth! Sending positive (((vibes))) for her procedure! Keep us posted!

Now I'm really beating myself up. LuLu had an accessed tooth and had 2 b pulled. I felt a little better that it was way in the back and not an obvious tooth, but still...she'll b on antibiotics for a few days and then should b fine. Thanks 4 all your posts. I feel like you all are part of my family.
