We gave our puppy (5 months) her first raw hide bone last week and she LOVED it! She sat there for hours saturday night and chewed. But then she started choking on the peices, after removing the third piece of rawhide that she was litteraly choking on I took the bone away from her. A couple days after that I got her a Nyla-Bone (peanut butter flavour) and she loved that as well. But after a few hours she started throwing up! So again I took the bone away for a few days. I gave it to her in her crate one morning and when I came home for lunch she had thrown up all her crate.
So whats the deal? She's a baby and obviously needs goodies and things to chew, but these items dont seem to be sitting well with her. People are telling me that we arnt supposed to be feeding raw-hide bones to dogs anymore (they arnt good for them?), but if thats true why do they sell them by the hundreds at pet stores??? What should I give her that will sit well with her stomach and not get caught in her throat? I cant handle the real bones that they sell in the stores because the sound that the dogs teeth make on it make my spine shiver!!!! I would appreciate some ideas!!!
Thanks!!
