I'm curious - but like my chicken and steak! :) On the other hand, real life says that high blood pressure, steadily advancing age (always a good thing!) and a few more lbs than absolutely necessary make looking at options a good thing.

Now I know that the most reasonable thing to do is watch the intake, maximize the physical, yada, yada, yada. And of course that works! foolicon And it's mostly what I do and will most likely keep working on.

But, I came across the raw food diet when I was reading somewhere and it sounds intriguing. How do you make pies and cakes without cooking? Is it really tasty and beneficial? I know websites pushing it will of course say it's so, but in real life...has anyone tried it? Do you love it?

Enquiring minds want to know! Or at least I do. ;)

For me as raw as it can go, will be lettuce, tomatoes, carrot, celery. Some sushi would do too but other than these I am not so sure.

My MIL makes steak tartare and thats raw, I don´t like it but my hubby does.
Also a restaurant that I worked in in London made fish tartare, with the vinegar and herbs, spices etc......they kills off the bad bacterias.

I am sure though that I did read a thread on here before about raw diets, do a search in receipes.

I went 100% raw for 5wks last Fall- i did it as a cleansing diet

I dont cook much so I didnt get into all the recipes

Basically theres a few good cookbooks out there for Raw Food-check out rawfoodtalk.com- Appliances you should have is a food processor, Dehydrator, blender and maybe a juicer

What I did (which was really simple) was eat a fruit/veggie smoothie in the morning snack on veggies nuts and dips(I can now make killer salsa and guac and a pesto type dip) through out the day and for dinner have a large salad that was as diverse as I could make it. Different types of lettuces kale etc etc

I only lasted five weeks mostly because I got bored eating the same things, But I did get back to my Ideal weight by the end of it. In total I lost 25 pounds without scheduled excersise.

My best advice is vary what you eat as much as posible and read up on all the Detox stories you can find. Ive spent most of my life eating crap and the detox (first 10 days or so) were absolute hell for me, but once that fades you feel awesome!

Good Luck!

PS Raw food does not include any kind of meat or veggies/fruits/nuts cooked over 120 degrees (I could be a few degrees off)
